Topic Discussion Article: Boredom and the costs of constant connection (文章)
Questions for Discussion:
Session 1
1. Do you get bored easily and need to stay connected all the time? Do you check your smartphone whenever you can? How did this type of behavior come about?
2. According to the article, what are the impacts of constant electronic stimuli on youngsters?
3. Name a few things you would do if you didn't have internet access and electronic gadgets for a week. Would you go crazy with boredom?
Session 2
4. A commonly held belief is that stimulation is good for our brain whereas boredom isn』t. Has this article changed your perceptions on stimulation and boredom? Do you think boredom helps develop long-term memory, as the article suggests?
5. What are the pros and cons of digital devices? How do they influence or improve your life? Are they detrimental to your mental abilities?
6. How long do you need to be idle before you begin to feel bored? How did your parents or grandparents cope with boredom when they were younger?
