Topic Discussion Article: Understanding Stress

Questions for Discussion:

Session 1

1. Certain level of stress is actually good for you. It keeps you alert and concentrated, but do you know where your limit is? (May refer What's Stressful For You?)

2. Are you more likely to be stressed out by external causes or internal causes?

3. Psychologist Connie Lillas uses a driving analogy to describe the three most common ways people respond to stress:
• Foot on the gas
• Foot on the brake
• Foot on both
Do you have a way dealing with these responses?

Session 2

4. Give us a stress management lesson.

5. Do you have good resilience and how soon can you bounce back from an unfavorable situation?

6. Does stress ever exist?
“ stress does not exist. Stress is not something that happens to us, but rather something that develops from within our own thinking.” -- Richard Carlson, Ph.D.
