‘Life of Pi’ Ending Explained

Questions:
1: In the story, we see PI believe in God with different faith (Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam) at the same time, but his Father told him that he should have only one belief, and his Mother just freed him to experience and choose the one fit for him. If you were his parent, what was your suggestion to PI?
2: At the final question, Japanese officials asked PI what happened to the ship. PI gave the first answer about true animal story to them, but they thought that is crazy and impossible. So, PI made another human version story for them. We can see people usually accept other’s saying while that makes sense to their own thinking (value). If it’s not, we will reject to believe in. If you were the officials, which version would you take? Why?
3: If you were PI, who wished to survive on the ocean around 270 days after the disaster happened, do you think you could overcome with it? Would you prefer to stay with a tiger or not? Why?
4: All of life is an act of letting go, but what hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye. PI feels sad that his whole family all died by accident, and although the tiger stayed with him for 270 days, in the end it just went away without any emotion. Have you ever felt pity/regret in your life? Please share with us.
