Thanks a lot for your attention.

Questions:
1. Companies in Taiwan, Korea, and Japan have provided Paid Time Off Programs, but most of their employees are so afraid to take long vacations. What causes a company culture like that? How many paid leaves do you have in a year? How do you use those incentive programs? Or how many unused paid leaves did you have last year?

2. What is the longest break you have ever had since you started your career? What did you do and what have you learned in those days off? And how did it improve your productivity?

3. What would you want to learn or where would you want to go, if you got a month-long paid leave now? Would you tell us more details about your plan?

4. Taking a day off can clear your mind. In addition to a long break from work, do you have alternative ways to clear your mind? What are the advantages of clearing your mind?

Dear Taichung Happiers,

Question: Where do math teachers go on vacation?
Answer: To Times Square.

Gee, this “Vacation” topic is killing me tenderly. All right, I see your what-are-you-talking-about smile. American writer Elbert Hubbard (June 19, 1856 – May 7, 1915) grasped when the desire of vacations tickles us harder: “No man needs a vacation so much as the man who has just had one.” Dear friends, either you just have had a vacation or you are planning one, welcome to join us.

What time is it? It’s Vacation Topic Time! Essayist Tim Kreider presented the curious paradox that “Idleness is not just a vacation, an indulgence or a vice; it is as indispensable to the brain as vitamin D is to the body, and deprived of it we suffer a mental affliction as disfiguring as rickets. The space and quiet that idleness provides is a necessary condition for standing back from life and seeing it whole, for making unexpected connections and waiting for the wild summer lightning strikes of inspiration — it is, paradoxically, necessary to getting any work done." While researches are decoding this paradox
http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/local/wp/2014/08/01/would-we-be-happier-if-we-all-vacationed-at-once-yes-research-says/ , the multi-dimensional organizational culture still keeps lots of employees from taking time off. Now, let’s check out what are the advantages and disadvantages of Paid Time Off Programs. http://humanresources.about.com/od/glossaryp/g/pto_policy.htm

What time is it? It’s Vacation Topic Time! In “The Science of Vacation” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5S_P0-VEFzM , speaker Ian Cole proposed a 3-step formula for pursuing the happiness of vacations. The first step, Positive Anticipation--the biggest difference in happiness is the period before the vacation, not after--echoes productivity consultant David Allen’s fresh insight. “Isn't it interesting that people feel best about themselves right before they go on vacation? They've cleared up all of their to-do piles, closed up transactions, renewed old promises with themselves.” Actually, reading a good book recalling my previous trips makes the vacations more bewitching to me; for example, “Olivia Goes To Venice”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48haTDFa02M

Still need a get-up-and-go genie? Here you are. http://www.budgettravel.com/poll/where-to-go-2015,51299/ Truly, how you spend the vacation time is much much more important than how much time you spend on vacations. Moreover, we can learn the smartest way to take a more memorable vacation from kids. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbnUsp7Gn3Y

Equipping yourself with a kid’s heart can maximize the happiness of your vacations. Therefore, never mind a dirty face!
From “Dirty Face” (by Shel Silverstein)
Where did you get such a dirty face,
My darling dirty-faced child?
I got it from crawling along in the dirt
And biting two buttons off Jeremy's shirt.
……………..
I got it from rolling around on the rug
And giving the horrible dog a big hug.
I got it from finding a lost silver mine
And eating sweet blackberries right off the vine.
I got it from ice cream and wrestling and tears
And from having more fun than you've had in years.

What time is it? It’s Vacation Topic Time!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1M2i3Yg-8U Treat yourself with a free vacation full of Happiers’ sweet smiles. Join us with your vacation attitude. Thanks!
