Dear Taichung Happiers,
It is as delicious as it is difficult to perfect. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EHilFknnix4Food has long been an obsession--and such, it elegantly dominates every culture. German writer and statesman Johann Wolfgang von Goethe 28 August 1749 – 22 March 1832) strongly suggested “One must ask children and birds how cherries and strawberries taste.” Additionally, American physician Mark Hyman demonstrated the multiple dimensions of food. “What most people don’t realize is that food is not just calories, it’s information. It contains messages that communicate to every cell in the body.” Meanwhile, what excited Italian operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti (12 October 1935 – 6 September 2007) is, “One of the very nicest things about life is the way we must regularly stop whatever it is we are doing and devote our attention to eating.” Can you take a guess of the culture of Crab Cakes, with pig ear and avocado mayo? What about Savory Bread Pudding of summer vegetables? Memories of food have a very special space in everyone’s heart. We have a powerful faith in food. There are bright-colored foods, green foods, black foods; foods that sweeten our reasoning; sustain our spirits; foods for longevity, foods for festivity, foods for self-scrutiny. Distinctly, dinner is the time of day we anticipate most. Where shall we eat? What’s coming over? What should we cook? Or, a bread so divine people travel hours to buy one. Good to have mental-pictures frequent like these. What’s better is, during this gathering, we can consult our host Kevin Hsu, a researcher at the National Health Research Institutes, about any Food-vs-Health issues. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to join us in diving into delightfully distinctive gourmet stories.
Who owns the culture controls the narratives. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbSj4nY2ZkA Food is only one thing that can attract a crowd without any shade of suspicion. Food is history. Due to history, here in Taiwan, we pride ourselves on the limitless choices of food, and on lots of restaurants with a wondrous, very western accent, which seems doubly exotic in that it comes from Asian chefs. Food. It's about cultural heritage. It's about the ingredients, about the struggle of the sources, and about the style-- the style of how they surely cook. Food is culture--in another time, another place, it is like an actor playing another role. Let us fry some history and culture and see if we can find Da Vinci in the kitchen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJVZXCribQs Food is culture. Wherever you go, the local market is always an encouragement to fall in love with a place—and, with a culture. The market modestly nestled in the neighborhood never disappoints. The display of pretty local produce; the scents, the character, and colors; some customers call for quality and others browse for the best deal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tGlJGANaBQ How about the culture of the table? The table is the focus where the family gathers. The table is a bond in bond that binds all the memories and the associations, that follows a heel for culture, and allows a passion for art. The culture of the table is the culture of beauty and sensibility. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c10NseV-bPQ Double Double. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUaZ5IGL3AY In your kitchen, what ingredients go into the meal? What is hotter than your stovetop? When the sunlight shows up and the smell of the breakfast is so seductive, what makes us mouth-watering can be this surprising Double Double Dictionary. https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-a ... -upperleft Double Double. There is an intimate connection between what feasts our eyes and what feeds our soul. The steady rhythm of an harmonious and hearty meal--the mixing of fascinating flavors and textures--is soothing, and we shouldn’t see the jewel of nature behind. https://urbantastebud.com/most-amazing- ... ant-views/ Double Double. What are the technical and artistic challenges of the art of food? How to make everything flow? How to be as flowing as possible and be in harmony with the change we are hunger for? The world's best female chef, Ana Ros, believes this philosophy can be the future: “Listen to the nature, respect the nature, and take from the nature only what we need, and only use it in a season when it grows. It requires a lot of works. There are a lot we still don’t know.” Now, we can dance to this Double Double Cooking at the world’s end. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=waEvBEhxm20Specialties, social life, and the spirit of sharing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSfJD7kjpbQ Every grandma’s kitchen smells like heaven. What is the true secret weapon of your grandma’s kitchen? Right now, if you inhale as deeply as you can, what will transfer you to your childhood and put you in your grandma’s kitchen? Moreover, what does your dream kitchen look like, smell like? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jY8tU5ajonM Food defines social life and community. Community is the perceptive thing of needing our partnership. We need community, which is closely connected with food. We share about food while feeling comfortable in the environment, and having a like-minded community to attach with. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QP4nqY6l5-U Be reflexive about how food defines us. Our dinner table is always a loud function, with everyone chatting over everyone else, confering and laughing. We wonder if anything is ever as good as the simple bliss in life. Above all, when we get adventurous with our mood and appetite, get a taste of an amusing, accessible, yet absolute gourmet journey, we should clear our minds. Open our minds. We’d be overwhelmed, all the appealing things that appear when we let our minds go. We cook, we eat, and we order, to create colors. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHMOi8p5IHkFrom “Tonight at 7:30” (by W. H. Auden)
a dinner party, however select,
is a worldly rite that nicknames or endearments
or family diminutives would profane:
two doters who wish to tiddle and curmurr between the soup and fish
belong in restaurants, all children should be fed
earlier and be safely in bed.
When food is like the music we sing while biking along the river… Food portraits the passion and perception of social life; nevertheless, our affection lying with food is undecipherable. Federico Fellini (January 20, 1920 – October 31, 1993), an Italian film director, who simply put: “Life is a combination of magic and pasta.” Every man has his personality at table. Food reveals the cultural communication; food is a fusion of fronts and faithfulness, the celebration of everything. The allurement of a good meal is plentifully powerful. We give a practical presentation of our amiable appetite—as if we had never heard food connected to guilt--the pleasures of eating and drinking should never be tortured into psychological struggles. Even in difficult times, we might not have all the right ingredients; yet, food can be still good—handmade with love. Hazard and hardship won’t affect people’s desire to return to see the art of food. When we return to it, we realize its genuine added value and the good it does us. (For the most part, what rises from those noises is something wonderful and beautiful, compelling and comforting.) In food, everything seems to be done by magic. It is a symphony. It’s very important to differentiate well between atmospheres, between the changing and banging of concern, of creation, of conducting, between challenging flavors and challenging chefs. We feast on consternation, and we feed contentment. Eat well, be well. When food is like the music we sing while biking along the river… savor something swweeeeet, and, smile. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lirbsDLbfUWith Gratitude,
Jasmine
