I did the Tone-deaf test after reading the article.
"You correctly identified 24 tunes (out of 26) on the Distorted Tunes Test. Congratulations! You have a fine sense of pitch."
Ha, it's really interesting. :D

I think it is both nature and nurture.
You can't tell different melody well if you are a tone-deaf, but it's possible to sing better with using right muscles after training.

The link below can test your ability to distinguish sound pitch.

It's a very interesting game. You can find out if you are pitch deaf.

After finishing the test, it will provide the score as a reference.
http://www.bored.com/musictests/pitchdeaf.htm

Let's do the test and share your score.

My scroe is as below. Aha... at least I have a normal ear.

At 500 Hz, you can reliably differentiate two tones 5.1 Hz apart.

Less than 0.75 Hz: Exceptional Ear.
Less than 1.5 Hz: Very Good
Less than 6 Hz: Normal
Less than 12 Hz: Low-Normal
Greater than 12 Hz: Possible pitch perception delicit.
