Cutting emissions to mitigate climate change will also make people healthier, according to research.
A special series of articles, published in medical journal, the Lancet, outlines how such policies could have a direct impact on global health.
The series has been released ahead of the UN climate summit in Copenhagen.
World Health Organization (WHO) director, Margaret Chan, said health protection should be a criterion by which mitigation measures were judged.
Dr Chan was just one of the key figures in global health research who wrote a comment article that was published alongside the Lancet reports.
Another was Professor Sir Andrew Haines, director of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, who is chair of the international task force of scientists that wrote the series.
Questions:
1: According to this article the main idea is about “reducing emissions and human health” which part you think is the most work-able in TW?
2: reducing emissions are equal to better human health, may be you do not think they are linked directly. However, it affects the change of climates, what idea do you think that can also be benefit for “cutting emission” this program?
3: A recent movie “2012” shows the end of the word will come. In that movie, finally, the world is in the water. Over emissions accelerate global warming; then leads to human tragedies. If human beings have no power to save it back, what do you think will be a better idea to escape from such kind of disaster? (like build arks, say sos to aliens… etc)
4: Well, a research is just a research. If no one proves it’s true or fake, the final answer will be unknown!! To follow the ideas form the research of UN, the country, firstly, will face the financial shortage from tax. If you are an officer of the government authority and you have enough power to make decisions, will you decide “yes” (follow the UN research) or No? Why?
5: According to this article, there are five main directions to reduce emissions, which one(s) do you think will be work-able? Please try to explain your idea.
