Topic Discussion Article: Beauty Is Defined, and Not By You (文章)
Questions for Discussion:
Session 1
Q1: Do you think that there is a universal standard of beauty? If yes, please provide some examples. If no, what are some factors that may influence the beauty standard?
Q2: What are the criteria of beauty in the Taiwanese context? How do you define beauty?
Q3: Do you agree that pretty people do have advantages in almost every aspect of life? If you were a supervisor, would you prefer to hire good-looking people?
Session 2
Q4: What is author』s attitude toward beauty? Does what she said strike a cord with you? Do you constantly worry about your looks?
Q5: Do you think that media have a strong impact on our beauty standard? Are you aware that some criteria of beauty are twisted due to commercial considerations?
Q6: There are some famous sayings about beauty, such as 「Beauty is in the eye of the beholder」, 「Beauty is but skin deep」, and 「Don』t judge a person by his appearance」. What other sayings related to beauty can you think of? Do you agree or disagree with those sayings?
