Topic Discussion Article: How writing by hand makes kids smarter (文章)
Source: http://theweek.com/article/index/207846 ... er&h=a0d7d
Questions for Discussion:
Session 1
1. Nowadays we usually type instead of writing for releasing notions, what are the pros and cons of this situation?
2. Science shows that handwriting can be faster and generates more ideas, do you agree with that? When and how often do you use handwriting in daily life?
3. Do you think it is necessary for kids to write by hand during the critical development period, especially for honing fine motor skills and learn to express and generate ideas? Share your stories about handwriting or calligraphy in childhood with us.
Session 2
4. How is your penmanship? Please write some words to your tablemates and compare your handwritings. Do you think people with good handwriting are smarter or get higher score? Does one's handwriting represent his personality? Will you judge others by their scripts?
5. Have you ever suffered from "character amnesia"? How did you solve this problem? Do you think "Tibiwangzi" or "take pen, forget character" means forgetting our culture?
6. The new technology like smartphone or ipad would translate handwriting into digital letters; do you use this function often?
Dear Happy members,
If you can join the gathering and or go there earlier around 2:30 p.m., please kindly let me know as soon as you can before every gathering on Saturdays in order to keep the regular gatherings going smoothly. I can send you our standard operating procedure (SOP) if you need it. Thank you!
There are 4 points to be noticed in the gathering informed by our founder, Happy. Please kindly follow the procedure.
1. Please take the pink flag from the waitress.
2. Please ask the contact informationof the attendees and send it to me. (Karen)
3. In the end of the gathering, can you take a photo with all the attendees? If you guys are taking photos, please put the flag just in front of the camera so that the flag seems to be a big one. If you don't have the camera or the mobile phone with the function, you can request the attendees to take the photo and send it to me. (Karen)
4. Last but not the least, please choose one volunteer to keep the minutes of our gatherings on Happy English Club's forum in the club issue section. You can share your ideas, conclusions, what you learned, and so on with our members without limited words.

Best regards,
