When Harry Met Sally
Sally: (talking to herself) Ok, so fifteen percent of my share is ninety...
six ninety. This leaves seven. (To Harry) What? Do I have something on my face?
Harry: You're a very attractive person.
Sally: Thank you.
Harry: Amanda never said how attractive you were.
Sally: Well may be she doesn't think I'm attractive.
Harry: I don't think it's a matter of opinion, empirically you are attractive.
Sally: Amanda is my friend.
Harry: So?
Sally: So you're going with her.
Harry: So?
Sally: So you're coming on to me!
Harry: No I wasn't. What?
(Sally is not impressed, jaw drops, wide eyes)
Harry: Can't a man say a woman is attractive without it being a come-on? Alright, alright, let's just say just for the sake of argument that it was a come-on. What do you want me to do about it? I take it back, ok? I take it back.
Sally: You can't take it back.
Harry: Why not?
Sally: Because it's already out there.
Harry: Oh gees, what are we suppose to do, call the cops? It's already out there.
Sally: Just let it lie, ok?
Harry: Great! Let it lie. That's my policy. That's what I always say, let it lie. Wanna spend the night at a motel? See what I did? I didn't let it lie.
Sally: Harry.
Harry: I said I wouldn't and I didn't.
Sally: Harry.
Harry: I went the other way.
Sally: Harry.
Harry: What?
Sally: We are just going to be friends, ok?
Harry: Great! Friends! It's the best thing.
(On the road once more)
Harry: You realize of course that we can never be friends.
Sally: Why not?
Harry: What I'm saying is... and this is not a come-on in any way, shape or form, is that men and women can't be friends because the sex part always gets in the way.
Sally: That's not true, I have a number of men friends and there's is no sex involved.
Harry: No you don't.
Sally: Yes I do.
Harry: No you don't.
Sally: Yes I do.
Harry: You only think you do.
Sally: You're saying I'm having sex with these men without my knowledge?
Harry: No, what I'm saying is they all want to have sex with you.
Sally: They do not.
Harry: Do too.
Sally: They do not.
Harry: Do too.
Sally: How do you know?
Harry: Because no man can be friends with a woman he finds attractive, he always wants to have sex with her.
Sally: So you're saying that a man can be friends with a woman he finds unattractive.
Harry: Nuh, you pretty much wanna nail'em too.
Sally: What if they don't want to have sex with you?
Harry: Doesn't matter, because the sex thing is already out there so the friendship is ultimately doomed and that is the end of the story.
Sally: Well I guess we're not going to be friends then.
Harry: Guess not.
Sally: That's too bad. You are the only person I knew in New York.
Wall Street
Well, I appreciate the opportunity you're giving me, Mr Cromwell...as the single largest shareholder in Teldar Paper, to speak. (laughter)
Well ladies and gentlemen, we are not here to indulge in fantasy, but in political and economic reality. America... America has become a second-rate power.
Its trade deficit and its fiscal deficit are at nightmare proportions. In the days of the free market, when our country was a top industrial power...there was accountability to the stockholder.
The Carnegies, the Mellons, the men that built this great empire, made sure of it...because it was their money at stake.
Today, management has no stake in the company!
All together, these men sitting up here own less than 3% of the company. And where does Mr. Cromwell put his $1,000,000 salary? Not in Teldar stock. He owns less than 1%.
You own the company. That's right, you, the stockholder. And you are all being royally screwed over by these bureaucrats...with their steak lunches, their fishing trips, their corporate jets and golden parachutes.
[Mr. Cromwell] This is an outrage! You're out of line, Gekko!
Teldar Paper, Mr. Cromwell, has 33 different vice presidents...each earning over $200,000 a year.
Now, I have spent the last two months analyzing what all these guys do. And I still can't figure it out. (laughter)
One thing I do know is that our paper company lost $110 m last year. And I'll bet half of that was spent in all the paperwork going back and forth between all these vice presidents! (laughter)
The new law of evolution in corporate American seems to be survival of the unfittest. Well, in my book you either do it right, or you get eliminated.
In the last seven deals that I have been involved with there were 2.5m stockholders who have made a pre-tax profit of $12 billion dollors. (applause)

I am not a destroyer of companies. I am a liberator of them!
The point is, ladies and gentlemen, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms - greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind.
And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA. (applause)
