TOPIC: The 2012 Summer Olympic Games

The 2012 Summer Olympic Games, also known informally as London 2012, began in London, United Kingdom, on 27 July and will continue until 12 August 2012. London is the first city to officially host the modern Olympic Games three times, having previously done so in 1908 and in 1948.
The main focus of this is a new 200-hectare Olympic Park, constructed on a former industrial site at Stratford in the east of London. The Games also make use of venues which were already in place before the bid.
Chinese Taipei is scheduled to compete at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom from July 27 to August 12, 2012.
There are many athletes from Chinese Taipei and they all join different sort of sports which are including archery, tennis, cycling, fencing, badminton, table tennis, taekwondo and weightlifting. We’ve got a silver medal from weightlifting so far.
Questions:
Session 1
1. Are you a big sport fan? If so, which one do you like? Why? If not, why don’t you like it?
2. What do you think about the flag was taken off because of the third party’s intervention?
3. Do you think hosting Olympic Games would improve the country’s economic and reputation? Why? How?
Session 2
4. Is Olympics Game just a temporary wave like World Cup Soccer so that nobody cares it once it’s done?
5. Have you ever been to U.K. or Europe? How did you find it?
6. What can you learn from this Olympic Game? For examples, from the athletes, never give up… pursuit dreams…good to work out…wanna be famous…hosting a big event to increase the reputation of a country? Share your idea with your tablemates!
