Dear Taichung Happiers:

Bill Gates can interview him about cultivating a curious mind; Bill Clinton should learn from him that, sometimes, remaining shy is the right thing to do; there will be no objection if he is nominated for Nobel Peace Prize. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Bill Shih, our host for this weekend. The topic “What Our Memories Tell About Ourselves” encourages Happiers to open up the concealed corners of our minds, so that we shall welcome life deeply and completely.

Nobel Literature Prize laureate William Faulkner used to say “Memory believes before knowledge remembers”. We write, we tape, we draw, we sing, and we even dance to see the various escapes of our memories. Nevertheless, we keep wondering what on earth the right path is to capture the finest point.

The topic is like the spring sunshine to wake us up from hibernating. The process of constructing memories is essential to how we understand ourselves and our lives, and it continues to shape who we are now and the decisions we make. In case Happiers are as curious as Bill, here is another supplement: http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/memory/ . Thanks a lot, Bill, for contributing such a fascinating topic.
(We have an extremely vivid memory about this morning’s earthquake. Take care, my dear friends.)
