Questions for Discussions:
1. Are you interested in science news? Or putting more attention on other sections, like sports, entertainment, celebrity, or political news? Why?
2. When you need to know some science, technology or medical information, what kind of resource do you use? Do you believe it?
3. Around 2011, there were several cases shown in newspaper that patients changed their personality after the surgery of the heart transplantation. Scientists wondered whether the heart can preserve memory. Did you ever see these news or similar ones? Do you believe it? Why?
4. The stories in media about 'cures for cancer' seem never fading away although scientists don’t progress too much actually. Could you have any idea about this? Why?
5. Most papers from scientific research are written by precise and professional language. That might cause a barrier for the public to understand. The popular science education should play a vital role in transferring these original research findings to short-and-sweet information that the public can easily digest in case they need to know the science behind the news to make a right decision for the policy. For example, the food security crisis, or the issues among energy resource, environment, and economy, and etc. Do you support this statement? Why? If so, who supposes to take the responsibility for the popular science education? Why?
6. Is it worthy to make a huge investment on the research of science and technology in Taiwan? Who should do this? Why?
