Dear Taichung Happiers,

Once many professors were called and asked to sit in an airplane.
After they sat, they were informed that the plane was made by their students. All of them, except one, ran and got out of plane.
People asked him the reason. He said, “If it’s made by my students, it will not even start.”

Don’t worry—they are not our professors. All right, now, seriously, do you become more confident in yourself because your professor feels confident in your ability? Or, does your professor become more confident in your ability because you feel confident in yourself? Hummm………Please don’t shy away. Come and share your stories. Our host Micro has been contributing character development topics, and we can ensure Happiers a delightful discussion for this weekend.

American author and philosopher Henry David Thoreau (July 12, 1817 – May 6, 1862) strongly advised, “If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” Then, during the character-building process, how can we dance with fears? How to be confident by facing and fighting the fragility of our minds? Our role model Ang Lee has intriguing and inspiring stories.

Edward Everett Hale (April 3, 1822 – June 10, 1909), an American author and historian, made a favorably perceptive comment to alleviate our confusion. “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.” So, what is “the something” that we can do? Check out what appropriate attitude American New Thought leader Christian D. Larson (1874 – 1954) urged people to pursuit.

“Promise Yourself
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
………………
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but great deeds.
To live in faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you.”

Who has never been down? What can raise us up? While tangoing with fears, we should still stick to our disciplines, be prepared to invite a combination of proper contexts and understanding, and have the responsibility to refill the never-ending creative process with bold experiments. Most importantly, remember to relax.
