Questions:
1. In this film, emotions are always in charge of the “Control Center” after Riley is aware of her encounters with external objects and situations, and emotions organize her memories. Do you think emotions influence our behaviors and organize our memories?

2. Have you ever experienced waking up from your dreams in a sudden and unexpected way? What kind of dreams are they? How did you feel?

3. What “Islands” (which are powered by Riley’s core memories) does Riley have? What could be your core memories? What kind of “Islands” could be created by your core memories? How do they impact you?

4. What has Riley done that caused 4 Islands in her mind to collapse? What is the most important Island to Riley? Why? Is it also the most important Island to you?

5. Joy once tried to leave Sadness behind, due to the concern that the existence of Sadness would hurt Riley. Are there any negative emotions which should be abandoned? Why?

6. Bing Bong was very sad when his rocket wagon was thrown into the Memory Dump. Joy ended up with failing to cheer Bing Bong up. Eventually, it’s Sadness who made Bing Bong happy again. What’s the difference between Joy’s and Sadness’ methods to comfort their friends? When you feel sad or depressed, what kind of comforting ways do you expect from people surrounding you? In what way do you prefer people around you to bring you comfort?

Dear Taichung Happiers,

Q: Where do mermaids go to see movies?
A: Dive-in.

Have you ever had a pleasant educational experience occurring in a cinema? American film critic Pauline Kael (June 19, 1919 – September 3, 2001) believed “a good movie can make you feel alive again, in contact, not just lost in another city. Good movies make you care, make you believe in possibilities again.” Inside Out is an exceptionally beautiful blend of educational and entertaining elements. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to join our host Harris, who is giving us a big thrill of immersing ourselves deeper in this film.

What does film mean to you? Film-maker Nikolaj Belzer reasoned himself into the insight that films provide us certain truths that are as strong as or stronger than what the reality gives to us.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-Pz0-TTZkc If you ever wonder how powerful certain truths can be, listen to our best friend Albert Einstein. “The ideals that have lighted my way, and time after time have given me new courage to face life cheerfully, have been Kindness, Beauty, and Truth.” Then, which part of your truth is the film Inside Out?

You are what you watch. Are you aware what movie genre you are without taking any quizzes?
http://www.playbuzz.com/pepeqb10/what-movie-genre-are-you How do you usually compare, discuss, or analyze films? Author Jon Lewis ensures us “Film analysis enables us to recognize how the filmmakers have their magic on us, how all the constituent elements of the film have combined to create that magic. Rather than rob us of the pleasures of watching films, this approach affords us the even greater pleasure of deep engagement.” Here is an enjoyable example of film analysis. https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/get-hardy/201502/film-analysis-birdman

Memories, friendship, and family are the three words I choose for Inside Out; what are yours? What books have associations with this film for you? The first of mine is writer and film-maker Shaun Tan’s book filled with his favorite childhood memories. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xabc4XEaAPo Furthermore, it is a great pleasure to discover that friendship and family are positive enhancing forces of each other. What we need to get back home is more intriguing than we expect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4aARfdXnfk&app=desktop

Another film I can’t wait for Happiers to watch is an oldie, a masterpiece from Robin Williams, Dead Poets Society. The poetry teacher himself in this film is a rich source of inspiration, indeed. Watch and feel this poem with your mind and heart, please. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQU3EphIpMY What do this YAWP scene and the film Inside Out have in common?

What is the “Fire” in your most important “Island”? What makes you see the fire?
