Please Note:
Venue:台中市南屯區 大業路182號 Mos Burger
Thanks a lot for your attention.

Questions:
1. There are 24 solar terms in Chinese calendar, and some of them suggest the seasonal changes. Now, the solar terms of Major Snow on Dec 7th and Winter Solstice on Dec 22nd are approaching. Can you explain why we have seasons? Why the Winter Solstice marks the shortest day of the year? What season do you like the most and the least?

2. Do you follow the customs like eating mixed vegetable rolls in Clear and Bright (the Qingming Festival), taking herbal tonics in the Start of Winter or eating TangYuan on Winter Solstice? What customs does your family have in other solar terms?

3. Will you pay attention to the subtle change in seasons or in solar terms? What food can make you feel better in specific seasons or solar terms? Where do you go to feel better in different seasons or solar terms?

4. Compared to the same season in your childhood, is the weather warmer or cooler? What causes global warming? How will it affect you?

Dear Taichung Happiers,

Q: How did the tree feel in the spring?
A: 'Releaved'.

How many seasons in a year does the Little Prince have? The statement from Thomas Christopher Greene, a Professor of writing and literature, contains reassurances. “...time can be slowed if you live deliberately. If you stop and watch sunsets. If you spend time sitting on porches listening to the woods. If you give in to the reality of the seasons.” For this weekend, our host Kevin is treating us a timely topic “Chinese 24 Solar Terms”. Welcome to join us in seeing the seasons with our hearts.

From “Spring” (by Gerard Manley Hopkins)

NOTHING is so beautiful as spring —
When weeds, in wheels, shoot long and lovely and lush;
Thrush’s eggs look little low heavens, and thrush
Through the echoing timber does so rinse and wring
The ear, it strikes like lightnings to hear him sing;
The glassy peartree leaves and blooms, they brush
The descending blue; that blue is all in a rush
With richness; the racing lambs too have fair their fling.

What is your most glamorous summer adventure? Having won numerous awards, Polly Horvath is an author for young readers—let’s find out about how deep her summer love is. “The library in summer is the most wonderful thing because there you get books on any subject and read them each for only as long as they hold your interest, abandoning any that don't, halfway or a quarter of the way through if you like, and store up all that knowledge in the happy corners of your mind for your own self and not to show off how much you know or spit it back at your teacher on a test paper.” However, once I hear of this book “Trevor's Travels Eco Adventures - The Ocean Calls”, I can’t wait for next summer.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U95Fhu3IvPo All right, and, since your heart is very close to your stomach, you have a big mission to complete after reading from your heart. http://graphics.wsj.com/image-grid/off-duty-summer-recipes/

Autumn is delicious as well—except for harvest and appreciation-giving, perhaps people crave what they have not yet become—take the example of Jeremy Lin’s recent performance: http://m.weibo.cn/2106855375/D595G7ge3. Autumn is the season for sharing, preservation, and evolution. So, what kind of evolution is happening within you? Eduardo Briceño, Co-Founder and CEO of Mindset Works, explained Josh Waitzkin’s evolution from a chess player to a World Martial Arts Champion. The transformation was brought by his Growth Mindset, which led him to take on the challenges, persist in them, and improve. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pN34FNbOKXc

What gives color to your winter? Some people have to create a right color that nobody has ever seen before, because their “winter of life” just comes unexpectedly earlier. “Life Feels Good” is a true story beautifully woven with love, faith, and acceptance for life; it illustrates how heart teaches us to communicate and see the world; this true miracle proves that spring will always return! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbBFAMBOIPg&app=desktop

Besides the scientific reason http://csep10.phys.utk.edu/astr161/lect/time/seasons.html , why do we have seasons? American author Sharon Bayliss inserted the enriching remark “With the change of the seasons, God reminds us that darkness always ends. Light always exists and will always return when missing. There is no night that doesn’t end. No nightmare from which you cannot awaken. No hurt that cannot heal.” In order not to be puzzled, add a little sweetness to your and others’ lives. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aec24lR11LA Therefore, join us. Thanks!!!
