Topic: Just How Much Power Do Your Electronics Use When They Are ‘Off’?

Source: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/08/scien ... ience&_r=3

Question:
1. Before reading this article, do you know that electrical power will be in the off state? After use running appliances or leave the place, will you usually readily pull the plug or turn off the power? Or only for certain appliances or place?
2. Knowing appliances in a off state cost power and money over time, will you start to do something on saving energy and reducing Carbon action? Or you don’t mind?
3. Which appliances you most common use? Since carbon dioxide produced by electricity will lead to the greenhouse effect, do you have any action to reduce future power consumption and mitigate climate change?
4. Modern appliances with advances in technology become more efficient, but when everyone has more kind of appliances leads to all human use of electricity increases every year. As proposed by the article, smart meter device monitoring power usage per hour and simple packet Stubbs plug method can help us to practice easily, will you use these ways? Or there is a better way to do?
5. In Daily life, in addition to pulling the plug, turn off the power etc, have you thought of other ways to slow down the production of carbon dioxide and mitigate climate change? Please share with us!

Hello everyone,

The correctted questions are below, tks.

1. Before reading this article, do you know that electrical power is still in the off state? After use running appliances or leave the place, will you usually readily pull the plug or turn off the power? Or only for certain appliances or place? Why?
2. Knowing appliances in a off state waste power and money over time, will you start to do something on saving energy and reducing carbon dioxide action? Or you don’t care?
3. Can you experience the life in developing countries, such as: Kenyan, living with very little power and not advanced equipment? If you are forced to experience this kind of life a week, you think you will readily cherish available energy or waste more of it? Why?
4. Which appliances you most commonly use? Modern appliances with advances in technology become more efficient, but everyone has more kind of appliances leads to all human use of electricity increases every year. As proposed by the article, smart meter device monitoring power usage per hour and simple packet Stubbs plug method can help us to save energy easily, will you consider using these ways? Or there is a better way to do?
5. In Daily life, in addition to pulling the plug, turn off the power etc, have you thought of other ways to slow down the production of carbon dioxide and climate change? Please share with us!
