Dear Taichung Happiers,
We wear our hearts on hobbies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9n5tIgfX3sWe don’t find our passions; our passions find us. Every hobby comes into our life for a reason. The various activities people engage in are a secret garden—we can’t resist a curious glance around. American business magnate and investor Warren Edward Buffett has been playing ukulele since he was 18. Why? Tom Hanks sees a collection of more than 100 typewriters as indispensable inspiration. Why? Former US president George W. Bush paints on a daily basis and has exhibited 30 painted portraits of world leaders. Why? Additionally, the author of The Lord of the Rings, also an English poet and professor J.R.R. Tolkien had a lingering focus on inventing languages. British politician, army officer, and writer Winston Churchill (30 November 1874 – 24 January 1965) admonished us to pursue hobbies. "The foundation of a hobby and new forms of interest is therefore a policy of first importance to a public man... The seeds must be carefully chosen; they must fall on good ground; they must be sedulously tended, ... To be really happy and really safe, one ought to have at least two or three hobbies, and they must all be real." While the “why” is evoking our emotions, we can first take on a big and seemingly unanswerable question from American author, philosopher, and environmentalist Aldo Leopold (January 11, 1887 – April 21, 1948) “What is a hobby anyway? Where is the line of demarcation between hobbies and ordinary normal pursuits?” Finding our true passion and love it unconditionally make it impossible to close any doors with meanings. So, can hobby be an identity? Can we position ourselves with the stories of our hobbies? Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to join our host Harris in picturing the perfection of the diversion garden.
Hobbies have more than a cloud of comforts. A hobby a day keeps the colorlessness away. “When a habit begins to cost money, it's called a hobby.” Whatever our hobbies are, they cook happy experiences, which is a worthwhile investment to promote our personal and professional development. Hobby, it holds different meanings for each of us. For some, it brings us the experience of inner peace. For others, it gives us an unbelievable amount of joy. However, for many, hobby remains genuine and divine. It doesn’t have to sing business ideas. After all, hobbies expand our horizons, unleash our creativity, and increase productivity at work. https://hbr.org/2019/02/why-you-should-work-less-and-spend-more-time-on-hobbies It is enchanting and influential to plant passions. In the world of creativity, Franklin, Snow, and Darwin all have lots of hobbies. Hobbies are our curious pursuit—they exercise different parts of our brains and we think about different problems we don’t usually have. https://heleo.com/conversation-the-power-of-dabbling-how-hobbies-make-us-more-creative/13895/ We are at an unusual loss for words when hobbies expand our vision, knowledge base, and perspectives. “There is no better confidence or self-esteem boost than learning a new skill, trade, piece of software, or even a new hobby. It will give you that sense of accomplishment we all like to experience." Ahha, so, it’s like you have to make up new ways to put yourself in danger in order to feel safer. If your hobby is as extreme as volcano diving, you’ve given the confidence that wouldn’t be repeated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAdFvTo9874New year, new leaf. Sow the seeds of a new interesting thing every day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjzTMGFi2ug Newfound hobbies can boost our New Year Resolutions. Do a new interesting thing every day, pick a new challenge or activity. Choose the kind of hobby that will best rejuvenate our minds and refresh our energy to make a difference. The noblest of all, what reading can do for us is nothing short of a miracle. People have various book lists to feed their hungry minds. What kind of impact will your reading have on your life? How will it make who you are in the future? Moreover, facing the uncertain future, we are gratified that art comes into our life anytime, anywhere. Our relationship with art replaces the sense of empty with a solid emotional foundation, as if, from shadow to light, in an instant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIiFRQTH2Oc Besides, no use explaining what all the films teach us about: it’s better we watch some enjoyable and insightful films for ourselves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQ7XUCQ6pbE What hobby is your pride and joy? How do your hobbies change through different life stages? Every hobby can be done as an experiment. The smile of encouragement that German writer and statesman Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (28 August 1749 – 22 March 1832) gave us is the sunlight that shines further. “It is such an agreeable feeling to be busy with something one is only half-competent to do that nobody should criticize the dilettante for taking up an art he will never learn, or blame the artist who leaves the territory of his own art for the pleasure of trying himself in a neighbouring one.” Whatever hobby sculptures a strange stirring, be true to yourself. https://www.wsj.com/articles/debussy-review-an-ear-for-beauty-1539910058No conflicts, no peace. Don’t be afraid of all the barriers. “Why did the runner stop listing to music?” “Because she broke too many records.” Fostering a love of hobbies makes us feel like we were born twice. We have invested lots of dramatic aspirations—additional passions and interests keep us occupied contentedly and constantly. Our nature has inner conflicts along the path, though. Yet, yet, yet, it’s not only the hobby, but also the dream itself that nurture us. Perseverance is the hidden host. https://www.elizabethgilbert.com/a-story-about-perseverance-several-years-ago-my-uncle-nick-went-to-see-the/ I know, we are no strangers to a high-stress lifestyle, and spare time has become the new luxury. Setting small daily goals to schedule our hobbies is an indelible answer, which returns the intriguing inquiry: how do you define “leisure time”? I guess the answers will differ from individual to individual, due to the cognition, culture and context differences. Nevertheless, re-managing our mindset to implement, not just plan, every small step will refresh our lifestyle and silently dance us forward to big changes. https://www.themuse.com/advice/how-to-find-and-make-time-for-your-passion-even-when-youre-busy Doors of possibility are constantly opening, as we make our way through the maze of choices, hobby choices in particular. How to knit the strategies to combine our hobbies and make everything happen? Check out this impressive personality dedicating more time and attention to remind us that every small thing counts; every small thing we fight to learn counts; every small thing we’ve learned can be all added up and practiced to other life areas. https://www.thisisinsider.com/photos-abandoned-pianos-romain-thiery-2018-5 “DIVING BOARD” (by Shel Silverstein)
You’ve been up on that diving board
Making sure that it’s nice and straight.
You’ve made sure that it’s not too slick.
You’ve made sure it can stand the weight.
You’ve made sure that the spring is tight.
You’ve made sure that the cloth won’t slip.
You’ve made sure that it bounces right,
And that your toes can get a grip—
And you’ve been up there since half past five
Doin’ everything… but DIVE.
Happy New Year! Happy start of everything!!! The air is infused with a mixture of originality and possibility. It’s time to discover how hobbies equip us with original, joyful, and sustainable energy, how hobbies release a new level of happiness and repose in us, and how we note the invisible emphasis upon our version of hobby blessings. What purpose could we find along the journey, if we hadn’t curiosities to light the way? The river of the journey keeps flowing and we lose the sense of time for inspirational inclinations--the world outside of our passions just dissolves. Hobbies make our personality shine; hobbies help us achieve ultimate health and wellness. Most importantly, hobbies help us survive and thrive as human beings. American writer and lecturer Dale Carnegie sincerely suggested, “Today is life — the only life you are sure of. Make the most of today. Get interested in something. Shake yourself awake. Develop a hobby. Let the winds of enthusiasm sweep through you. Live today with gusto.” Therefore, let us blink into the blue light of each day; let the world take shape again. Happy New Year! Happy start of everything!!! We wear our hearts on hobbies. Join us. Thanks!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lL1ZQdgjPYIWith Gratitude,
