Every destination itself is a metaphor. Thanks to Globalization and the Internet, the distance between us and the rest of the world seems more and more measurable. Travel is like a profession we all need to learn, yet, sometimes, travel is not teachable—the journey itself is the best teacher. Being one of the greatest composers in the history of Western music, Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (27 January 1756 – 5 December 1791) strongly suggested that travel, like a piece of music, can change key many times. The purpose? To inject a strong dose of energy. “A man of ordinary talent will always be ordinary, whether he travels or not; but a man of superior talent will go to pieces if he remains forever in the same place…” We travel to discover all the wonders of the world. What can keep the aroma of your travel memory longer—the part you share on social media or the part you only silently keep in a special space in your heart? Have you ever experienced that kind of journey that didn’t meet your expectation, but ended up with being more rewarding? The adventure and actualization carry us off to other ways of feeling, thinking, and living. In a particular way, travel is all-present in the memories and conversations of our family and friends. If I can say so, it’s because every destination is home. We’ll glow with pride when the fate gives us an indecipherable wink and takes us to the place where our future will be decided. Eventually, travel reassures us that despite no one can know everything, there are moments when we can believe that we will, when mind and spirit are filled to overflowing—we feel like we have finally been reborn. We come to every destination for a reason, and not to escape from ourselves. Landscape is a state of mind. We can change landscape into something we care about--how we make people feel. Yes, it’s always about people. Prize-winning author Wallace Earle Stegner (February 18, 1909 – April 13, 1993) gave us his incredible insight: “There is a sense in which we are all each others’ consequences.” A balm of empathy and compassion gives us enough strength to revive and regain some calmness and peace.
