Dear Taichung Happiers,

Let’s fly without magic, shall we?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6z-yZwfS5k

The strength of feeling suggests the scale of happiness, doesn’t it? In life, we search for meanings and we pursue happiness. What can sharpen our understanding of the true image of happiness? The meaning of happiness diverges due to the individual and cultural differences, and changes with social evolution. According to Lao Tzu, who was alive around 600 BC in China, "If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present." Two centuries later, Athenian philosopher Plato unveiled the secret of happiness, "The man who makes everything that leads to happiness depends upon himself, and not upon other men, has adopted the very best plan for living happily." Moreover, "the father of American literature” Mark Twain smiled questioningly at us, “Happiness is a Swedish sunset -- it is there for all, but most of us look the other way and lose it....” Well, what if happiness can be an art form? If so, we should listen to Michelangelo, “The sculpture is already complete within the marble block, before I start my work. It is already there, I just have to chisel away the superfluous material”, and focus on nothing but cutting off fears and desires, which are exactly what makes us suffer. Honestly, in the hierarchy of your values, what is always a trump? What is the most potential key to open the Door of Happiness? Where can we see a road melting into the mist and mountains to a land of well-being? Only when we are assured enough to allow our own definition of happiness to be the guiding light of our lives, can we be the best version of ourselves. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to join our host Vicki in diving deeper into the indulgence in our love for happiness.

Positivity and creativity open the Window of Happiness. Positivity and creativity literally squeeze the truth back into happiness. “Worrying works! More than 90 percent of the things I worry about never happen.” Positivity and creativity. Without the darkness, we can never notice the stars—adversity is the best teacher—what seems scarcity can be in fact prosperity. Happiness is not about having things in a certain way. It’s about whatever way things are in, we can still make our life more meaningful and beautiful. Listen to your heart and make positive choices to contribute to your happiness. To prevent the shadow of negativity and anxiety from crossing our faces, professors at Harvard Graduate School of Education deliver practical prescriptions for developing positive habits.
https://www.gse.harvard.edu/news/uk/16/03/biology-positive-habits A big part of life is about trying to fix things that are not fixable. Positivity is all about having an open, optimistic viewpoint. Love what the life is. Welcome whatever life gives us. There is a satisfaction that feels deeper, that acknowledges and accepts the quiet gifts of small joys. For the second year in a row, Finland has been ranked as the happiest country in the world. Why don’t we take a peek into their Positive Education? http://epublications.uef.fi/pub/urn_nbn_fi_uef-20181174/urn_nbn_fi_uef-20181174.pdf Furthermore, creativity stirs joys. American writer Henry Miller (December 26, 1891 – June 7, 1980) pointed out, “There is the happiness which comes from creative effort. The joy of dreaming, creating, building, whether in painting a picture, writing an epic, singing a song, composing a symphony, devising new invention, creating a vast industry.” Awareness of construction won’t diminish our contentment, only add to it. Only when we celebrate the tremendous flowering of creativity that occurs under the umbrella of the natural force, can we really enjoy our occupation and profession. Creativity can transport people, so that we can never be lonely when we are along with what we are trying to create. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWw7rCHcduQ

Kindness and gratitude help us take a transformative turn. Ah, the tender power of kindness and gratitude! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVtpl_oN1Rk Kindness and gratitude are the most essential nutrients to sustain happiness. Kindness and gratitude evoke powerful emotion, each sentiment, each acknowledgment translates a constant source of happiness. Other people can’t give us happiness. Tangible things can’t give us happiness. Happiness is something we create from within. Research results have shown that offering kindness to others h is even more effective at boosting happiness than simply treating ourselves; those who offer kindness to others have lower anxiety, greater happiness and empathy, and higher feelings of social connection. Professor Christopher Peterson (February 18, 1950 – October 9, 2012), former chair of the clinical psychology area, simply stated “How can we create a cultural legacy of happiness? Let other people matter.” Of course, there are more than 100 ways to be happy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoR2sSFi9eo However, things don’t make us happy; giving more makes us happier. There is always a link, proven or unproven, between the best day of our lives and kindness. https://edition.cnn.com/2017/02/09/health/firefighter-adopts-baby-he-delivered/index.html Happiness comes largely from our relationships with others. The smiles on happy faces, their ability of involving in kindness and gratitude, teach us more about relationship and happiness than any lecture we will ever attend. The silence of our peaceful minds is punctuated only by our sincere sound while we breathe in kindness and gratitude. Without any slightest bit of kindness, at each vulnerable moment, adults can be reduced to little kids. https://www.happierhuman.com/benefits-of-gratitude/

“Help Yourself to Happiness” (By Helen Steiner Rice)

Everybody, everywhere seeks happiness, it’s true,
But finding it and keeping it seem difficult to do.
Difficult because we think that happiness is found
Only in the places where wealth and fame abound. And so we go on searching in palaces of pleasure
Seeking recognition and monetary treasure,
Unaware that happiness is just a state of mind
Within the reach of everyone who takes time to be kind.
For in making others happy we will be happy, too.
For the happiness you give away returns to shine on you.

Lifestyle creates invisible yet valuable connections. “My doctor told me that jogging could add years to my life. He was right—I feel ten years older already.” We are curators of our own experiences; lifestyle affects us deeply. Spending time outdoors is one of the fastest ways to promote happiness. It’s been shown to reduce our stress, blood pressure, and anxiety, and boost our mood. (Does walking in the Disney Park count?) Adding plants to transform your backyard can also be a Nature Prescription. Stay with nature. Slow down. Be quiet. Then, we’ll be touched, and our stress will be melted away. Even, when the trees turn colors, wave their lovely leaves, release a sweet fragrance, we experience a delicious moment of profound happiness. A quiet happiness always stretches out between us and the Nature.
https://www.birdpoty.co.uk/bpoty-2019-winners Contemplative prayers have illuminated the ways in which body, mind, and spirit all intermingled. When we do exercise, the neurotransmitter released can soothe our brains and control our impulses. Happy people do exercise regularly because they know it will boost their mood. The hardest ill to cure is habit; therefore, it’s never too early to have exercise habits as a part of our lifestyle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3K2_5x9hEs Above all, make reading as a lifestyle. What can we say when a person has fewer clothes than books? On the wings of words, we return to the enchanted world where countless stories are always waiting for us. Books are our best friends, illuminative lens providing new views of the world. Happiness is not a magic thing—it’s there in reading. https://www.psychologies.co.uk/reading-books-can-make-you-happy

Follow your inner light. Identity is so important for conveying meaning. We want to bath in the tempo, in the rhythm of being who we are. Paradoxically, life becomes sharply focused and valid only when we don’t think of meaning. Nevertheless, we need to commit to improving our lives every day. Happiness doesn’t blossom from a seed without the persistent love of perseverance and patience. We need the strong spirit of the responsibility to protect it. It takes change to our whole new inner world. We have to endure the temporary disadvantage and dissatisfaction before discovering happiness. It takes commitment. It takes time. It takes work, and it’s worth it. Again, it’s not about your scar, it’s all about your heart. Ultimately, “Happiness is not something you experience, it’s something you remember”, said American concert pianist, composer, and author Oscar Levant (December 27, 1906 – August 14, 1972). In fact, no matter what your happiness percentage has been with Happiers, the mood in our club is celebratory. This is where we are able to touch the happiness. Remember the smiles on Happiers’ faces. Remember that you are awesome. Remember that this world needs more happiness, more elegance, and more confidence. Join us.
