1. According to the psychology professor, Kate Mclean, in “The transformational Power of How You Talk about Your Life”, the ways people tell their life stories reflect their personality, and have profound effects on what kinds of persons they become. Do you agree to her point? Why or why not?

2. Do you think Lady Ga Ga’s story reflects her traits and personality? What kind of person do you think she is? Are you inspired by her? Why or why not?

3. Life is never fair, and no life is perfect. Please share your life story with us. Talk about some key events of your life, focusing on the sour (dark) moments you ever went through, how you considered the positives that came out of your negative experiences, and how you coped with the difficult situation and moved your life forward.

4. Were you ever impressed by any other person’s life story (either celebrity or non-celebrity)? Introduce that person and tell us how he (she) interprets his (her) major events of life.

Thinking of life stories, are you seized by any motivation or anticipation? What moment has remained intensively embedded in your mind? Why should we recount our personal history? How to interpret others’ life stories? And, for what? Telling a life story is to gain a clearer picture of our identities. British neurologist, historian of science, and author Oliver Sacks (9 July 1933 – 30 August 2015) turned his gaze down into the depth of his cup of life story. “We have, each of us, a life-story, an inner narrative — whose continuity, whose sense, is our lives. It might be said that each of us constructs and lives, a ‘narrative,’ and that this narrative is us, our identities.” Life stories depict our values, passions, and inclinations. We tell stories, and we grow into those stories. Those stories keep reminding us of the most important thing—it’s not tough moments that define us; it’s how we react that really matters. Story-tellers and listeners are on the same side. When our minds tell us: this is the one true you, our eyes are full of inexpressible emotion; the urge to digest others’ experiences and stories is even stronger. We wholeheartedly listen to others’ stories, which will give us a piece of ourselves. In life stories, we see the lessons of respect, rejoicing, and release. Every story of our past and present stirs long-faded thoughts. Life. We have fear, we have relief, as well as curiosity about what will come. “A clean house is a sign of a wasted life.” Life itself is a story and we have the power to carve our own corner of the display. Telling our stories is to reason what seizes our hearts; telling our stories is to feel our spiritual and conceivable potential; telling our stories is to develop our experiences into perspectives. What is to become of you? Do you think the world has caught a glimpse of the person you are bound to be? Telling our life stories helps us concentrate on the scene unfolding in front of us. What exactly exists is only a circle. A circle. A circle stems from nothing more than the glorious and gorgeous. Do you believe that stories will save the world? The light is pouring in, when the connection and the circle of life stories are interwoven, revealing our pursuit for happiness, health, and harmony. At last, the only thing that matters is imagination all audience carry in their minds--the imagination is nothing but the key to preserving the bonds between people. At last, the only thing that matters is the enlightenment on what can’t be solved can be actually celebrated, because we deserve to enjoy the journey. At last, the only thing that matters is accepting the contradictions of our lives. Life stories are testimonies of faith in giving and gratitude. If we relate the system around us in a more unclenched and unreserved way, we can redefine our future. William James (January 11, 1842 – August 27, 1910), one of the most prominent philosophers of the United States, remarkably reminded people that “When you live your life with an appreciation of coincidences and their meanings, you connect with the underlying field of infinite possibilities.” Our drunkenness might re-bloom occasionally; our life stories might change, through time and perspective; yet, authenticity returns in our mind’s eye, and we believe life stories are still going strong. A life story is like a piece of ballet choreography--we love the calmness of the beauty within and beyond it. The calmness that erases all shadows.
