Dear Taichung Happiers,

Listen! The whispering of the quietness--the strength of the softness.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6Uw2DJ9Md8

“One touch of nature makes the whole world kin”, said William Shakespeare. So, are you a garden person at heart? Do you think you are much drawn to greenfingers life? When was the last time you stared and stepped into a garden? Gardening? For us, this word has always produced a certain thrill. The plants need no words, no languages to communicate their beauty and purity. Due to the purity and beauty of the plants, while seeing them, we can do nothing to hide our envy. Nevertheless, it’s not a miracle at all to find someone else who shares this passion for gardening. What’s the magical effect? How can it deliver something different? A hundred things have marked gardening out as unique; ten thousand joys attract us to the life of gardening. Plants seem to possess their own luminescence; gardens always give us a look that wraps us in an atmosphere of well-being; in gardening, the plants, the flowers appear to dance between our hands. In the sun-filled days, we realize we are experiencing waves of emotion at finding ourselves back in the garden again. American essayist, poet, and philosopher Henry David Thoreau (July 12, 1817 – May 6, 1862) simply asserted: “Nature will bear the closest inspection. She invites us to lay our eye level with her smallest leaf, and take an insect view of its plain.” Therefore, as we see plants and gardens, take a moment to reflect on our perceptions of this land. What do we expect to see on this land? I know, I know, this Saturday is an alternative working day--95% of Happiers are going to work. However, ladies and gentlemen, if you are available, please do join us in nourishing our Gardening Accent.

Our gardens should be a haven.
https://www.boredpanda.com/miniature-mi ... imon-dell/ The earth is exhausted from its work--something is going on-- buzzing under the surface. Our ears ring with the sound of unmade decisions and doubt. There is weariness on this land and oceans, even a hint of unwillingness, as if the land and oceans were not become prepared to keep opening their hands like this. The ecosystem is hungry for gardens. How can we re-frame what we know about plants? https://decimalreviews.com/environmenta ... gardening/ According to the Award-winning garden designer Patricia Tyrrell, “our gardens should be a haven for biodiversity and a refuge from the world, not only for ourselves but for the rest of the wildlife with whom we share the earth.” The earth is exhausted from its work; we feel people’s panic boil over and our eyes cloud with confusion; fear is leaking out of us in every direction. Except for biting our lips up, what can make us relieve some tension on our faces? We do gardening because we believe in the nature. This is fully a favor within everyone’s power to grant. Now, is there a determined look in your eyes? https://mymodernmet.com/stefano-boeri-s ... ty-cancun/ Yes, this is it. We didn’t have the prescience to know that our lives can be transformed profoundly and we would become intensely entangled in this plot. Yet later—perhaps when we start at the gardens—the miracles will seem more, truly, to be miracles. https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2017/11/ ... our-oceans

The gardening experience will be a memory nobody can take away from you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8eMI4NJhQo All styles of garden are mushrooming all over this globe. Whatever style a garden is designed with, it has a charm all its own because of its gentleness and friendliness. Whatever style a garden is designed with, the garden, which accepting plenty of sun throughout the day, will win the admiration and appreciation of any visitors. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjWx2WNXFF4 Whatever style a garden is designed with, every garden has a little strainer that only lets through sweet and satisfying words. Whatever style your garden is designed with, the gardening experience will be a memory nobody can take away from you. The unspeakable beauty… The affluence of the indulgence… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIF9ZaiS9iI Looking up at us, the plants fix us with a searching gaze, in which beauty is mixed with something like a riddle; then, we rise to the challenge of our responsibilities. Our minds swim with details; our tired eyes will rest responsively on the plants. Gardens, only when carefully cultivated, are they stunning and soothing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsw0ABDFMEg

Are we growing the plants? No! The plants are growing us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkkB17DedKs Gardening has wide implications. We realize with astonishment that, even the messiness of gardening jobs gives us a feeling of energy and vitality. Every garden is full of invisible, magic mirrors. Staying in a garden, we meet ourselves a hundred times a day, every corner a source of pleasure and pride. Doing gardening corrects some interior rhythm; what’s more, a rich relaxation paints our thoughts. https://asia.clickandgrow.com/blogs/new ... s-teach-us The gardening job is tedious and the hours are tricky; however, we don’t, and don’t have to care too much. We grow more excited by the minute. Then, before we know it, our gardens are (?) years old, and the colors and smells we used to mingle with have been comforted by a combination which whispers different scents and frames different views. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kx0qhR7OsIE The learning process of gardening enlightens us with unexpected force. The gardens’ manner as the flowers dancing toward us is absolutely assured--we are determined not to let our decisive mood dissolve. Gardening teaches us how to move between worlds seen and unseen. Above all, it’s not the gardening experience itself; it’s how the gardening experience influences the rest of our lives. https://www.ft.com/content/993c5978-5a1 ... 1f5ada9d40

“OPTIMISM” (by Jane Hirshfield)

More and more I have come to admire resilience.
Not the simple resistance of a pillow, whose foam
returns over and over to the same shape, but the sinuous
tenacity of a tree: finding the light newly blocked on one side,
it turns in another. A blind intelligence, true.
But out of such persistence arose turtles, rivers,
mitochondria, figs — all this resinous, unretractable earth.

Come rain or come shine. What do we expect to see on this land? Are our expectations met or menaced? We have developed a profound desire of the plants, the nature, as if our arching backs are connecting us directly to a particular patch of earth. The plants, they are remarkable for their bold simplicity; everything in the garden reminds us of an adventure. Eventually, we find ourselves looking not at the garden, but at our inner selves, and smiling. We are fascinated. We are astonished. Later, we turn to look for what it is we are supposed to be seeing. Let us bear the admonishment from American politician and environmentalist Gaylord Nelson (June 4, 1916 – July 3, 2005) in mind, “Our goal is not just an environment of clean air and water and scenic beauty. The objective is an environment of decency, quality and mutual respect for all other human beings and all other living creatures.” We may sink back into our thoughts afterwards, and trip along through the darkness to the voice of gardens’ gentle roots. As we travel along, we seem to become more ourselves again. Certain kinds of beauty never fade--we are intoxicated by the evidence of the miracle. Come rain or come shine--gardens always assure us that love and peace always prevail! And, yes, here we are. This land. This garden. This life. It’s ours, despite the uncertainties that follow us around. The time will come when the sun will shine. Join us. Thanks!!!
