dig in 的用法

請問dig in當作開始吃,這樣的用法是否有不禮貌的情形?它還有什麼其他的意思呢?這算是俚語嗎?還是口語?

dig in is a phrasal verb.

dig in informal
to start eating food
The food's on the table so dig in before it gets cold. [often an order]
(American) to begin to do something in a determined way
They dug in immediately so as not to waste any more time.

(from Cambridge International Dictionary of Phrasal Verbs)

This phrase does not imply any offsenvie manner; rather, it's more casual an expression.

"dig in" simply implies that foods are aplenty, one need to "dig in" with spoons and forks as if they are shovels. Can you say "dig in" when chop-stick is the main eating utensil? Well, that would be a stretch.

If you want to use "dig in" or sometimes as "digging"

It can mean "to enjoy" or "to blend into"

It's just a slang that people who lives in the State use. Mostly used by black people or people in the young ages.

Hope that helps some of you.
