In my team, there is an assistant having a 5y/o girl. Let me call her A in the following paragraph. Today A talked about her experience about spanking or slapping her daughter. One time, A’s daughter wanted to buy a pair of pants, but A didn’t allow her. Kids often turn irrational in this situation. Her daughter was the same. She started to scream her guts and cry her eyes out. A couldn’t tolerate it anymore and started to teach her a lesson in a restroom. In the middle of the lesson, she peed. Yes, she peed. Her pants turned all stinky and wet, and it was impossible to bring her home like this. In the end, A still bought the pants her daughter wanted about 30 minutes later with her heart flooded with regrets.
I forget why we came to talk about it, but she warned me I had to remember asking my kid to deal with nature’s call before I was going to do any damage.
