Just watched this movie last Sunday. Okay、I assume most people already know that Benjamin is a guy who is born old and ages backward. At first、I thought it would be great to grow younger and stronger each day. Baby Benjamin's senile look completely drew my attention. However、his reverse aging pattern becomes an obstacle in his relationship with the love of his life. The film's unhurried pace gives you plenty of time to adapt yourself to Benjamin's reality、but you'll also find yourself growing weary of certain periods in the character's life. (I almost dozed off in the middle ). After drifting along at a tedious pace for two hours、the movie finally reaches its emotional climax in the final 30 minutes that really tugs at my heartstrings. It's only when you reach this point in this film、you will appreciate the way the proceedings are paced and structured.
I discussed this film with one of my coworkers who didn't enjoy it very much. She said that besides the reverse aging pattern、Benjamin isn't that different from others. He's still headed towards the same destination as everybody else. I think he made a right decision because after all, we just need someone whom we can "grow old" with.
P.S. I tried not to reveal too many storylines
