(Sorry that if you've been told about this anecdote by me verbally.)

As a member of the Ambassadors Theater, I was notified that they were holding series of events to mark its anniversary in October. For example, if you were a member and saw a movie there in October, you could possibly win an IPod Nano based on a number they gave you. The prizes also included 52 or 26 free movie tickets. Names of the winners would be disclosed on October 31st.

It is known that it's so hard to win a super big prize, but I still went there in mid-October with my friend to see "Julie & Julia." I put the tickets in their lucky draw box after the movie in the hope of winning a very "small" prize and did check the winner list right on October 31.

While I was surfing its Web site that day, Oh, My God, I saw my name on it. I incredibly won a free 10-day trip to France worth NT$130,000. It was just like a dream then.

You may want to ask me why the value is a lot higher than other package tours to France - because the trip includes meals at 3-star Michelin-rated restaurants in France and the food was exactly my motivation to see "Julie & Julia." I spent NT$440 on the tickets for two people and this was so worthwhile.

The theater agent told me that it is valid within one year, and hopefully I can share the trip with our members soon.

It's a pity that this is only for one person. It's almost impossible for me to have any of my friend spend NT$130,000 going with me. If it's transferrable, I may try to sell it on an auction Web site and the price should be no less than NT100,000 'cause I have to pay for the tax. I'll still be going if it's not transferrable nor salable.

By winning a big prize last October, I got a chance to take a fantastic 10-day trip to France, Monaco & Italy last Sunday. However, it was not an entirely free trip at all.

First of all I had to pay for the tax on the prize winning, which was 10% of the prize value (NT$134,000*10%=13,400). Secondly, I had to pay extra NT$4000 for the busy travel season during the Chinese New Year. Besides, since I wanted to stay in a room myself, I had to pay NT$28,000 additionally.

I traveled with 2 young couples along with 4 other families. I was taken care of very well by the other members and the tour leader, and they helped me with the pictures whenever we arrived at a tourist spot.

The standard of living in Europe is very high, but it’s worthwhile to go there once in a while. It is important to choose a reliable travel agency if you’d like to join a package tour. Sometimes you may find it a little bit costly, but the truth is “you get what you pay for.”

Europe is gorgeous, isn't it? Good to know you had a good time there.

I think Europe is a nice place to arrange the trip by yourself. It's safe and easy to transport between countries.

If booking local air ticket two or three months in advance, the price of ticket would be surprisingly cheap.

Also living in 2 or 3 stars hostels can also save a lot of money.

You were right! Europe was gorgeous and Michelin restaurants were fantastic.
I've started to miss my trip already.
Those travel agencies' package tours are pretty costly.
Hopefully I'll go back again soon by winning another big prize!!
