Actually today is not really my birthday. Our main purpose of tonight's gathering is I am the first born baby in our Club and it's one year now.
You all know the HEC is like a big family with a lot of babies and it's almost one year now that I was born into this family, yes I am the first born baby in this club. So now I am expressing my happiness. I have got lots of happy memories.Some of our members became my good friends and, indeed, we share everything with each other,like good friends do.
Even though we have to face some difficult situations sometimes, they all stand by me. Some of the girls are just like my sisters. They laugh a lot with me but they also cry with me,and when those moments come, it's very touching.
One year ago, there were only 10 people joining the first meeting close to Taipei Main Station. Our leader, Happy, brought us on the way into another world. I remember his words: " Cathy! Don't be shy, this is not a cram school here. No test. No pressure. You can say everything you want. " He said that in his well-known humorous way and today all of us know his opening phrase, which, by now, has already become a proverb:I am Happy, I am the founder of this English Club.....
I am sure everybody here tonight will feel like me. We got used to hear these words from Happy and even you don't show it. I am confident you have a big smile inside, right? As the Secretary of the Happy English Club I want to let you know that I am very happy to be here and make friends with you. I hope we will have a good start into the 2th year, and manage the 3th, 4th...and, well.....countless years may come, until forever.
