"two-time" is the word you're looking for, which is from the original sentance:carry on a romantic relationship with two persons at the same time. I hardly heard this word because people always said " having an affair whith" or the phrasal verb"cheat on sb" to express this situation.
"two-time" can be a transitive verb and also an adj.
A pobilic celebrity Jolin expresses it as " having the third person". Seems very obvious in Chinese, but I think that's a load of crap! Just for your reference!

◆two-timing :
這種情形是在雙方仍在約會狀態。其中一方在對方不知情的狀況下, 偷偷和其他人交往。
【例】: J.C. is a two-timer. (JC是個會在背地裡偷吃的人。)
【例】: J.C. is two-timing on his girlfriend with Patty.
JC 背著女朋友和 Patty 來往。
◆having an affair :
曾經, "having an affair" 是專指婚外情。隨著現在未婚男女同居的情況普遍後, "having an affair" 已不限定在已婚男女的身上了。若要明白指定是婚外情, 可以用 "have an extramarital affair" 來表示。
【例】: Bob's extramarital affair with another woman ended their 14-year marriage.
Bob 和另外一個女人的婚外情結束了他們十四年的婚姻。
◆cheating :
這種情形適用於已婚或未婚者。同樣是在對方不知情下, 在外與他人來往。
【例】: Shirley's husband (or boyfriend) is cheating on her.
◆seeing someone on the side:
"on the side" 是在旁邊的意思。應該是跟某人在一起的, 卻在一旁偷偷和他人約會就是cheating了。這個說法也同樣適用於已婚或未婚者。
【例】: Seth is married to Jennifer, but he is seeing someone else on the side。
Seth 已經和 Jennifer 結婚了, 卻和別人偷偷來往。
