hi, I know it is not a good word in chinese?
but, I want to know. haha
or 作繭自縛or自作孽or 犯賤,the meaning of these three are simliar,aren't they??

How about "wickedly bewitched"?

or "cheapen oneself"

In some siuations, I would say "ask for trouble" and in others, "insult"oneself" or "invite self-humiliation".

Also, "sank or stooped to a new low." (understandably in an ethical sense)

作繭自縛 to tie oneself up with duties (like spinning a cocoon)
自作孽 to cause troubles to oneself
犯賤 to commit evil thoughts

犯賤 and 作繭自縛 are not exactly the same; 犯賤 is a cause while 作繭自縛 is rather its effect.

You can say "You ask for it" to someone who "犯賤","自作自受"

I'd really love to stick to "No Chinese" policy here....but occasional violations maybe. Cuz I "overheard" everybody singing kareoke in Chinese and Taiwanese, in other words, it's not that strict and we love our own culture, right?? :lol:
