International Herald Tribune, which is the global edition of the New York Times, has this website which allows you to read and listen to its news articles, all for free. You can click any article and then click on "listen to article" to have the news read to you. Although the articles are read by a computer and not by a real person, I thought it was fairly accurate except for some minor details and intonation.
they also offer free news mp3 podcast, click the audionews tab.
