「superstore」意指「大賣場」，意思相當於「megastore」和「supercenter」，台灣常見的有大潤發、「Carrefour」（家樂福）、「Geant」（愛買）和世界知名的「Wal-Mart」（沃瑪）等，其他大型購物商場的說法有：「shopping mall」（大型購物中心）、「wholesaler」（大型批發店，例如「Costco」（好市多）、「hypermarket」（【英】大型超市）、「cash & carry」（自助批發店，顧客挑完商品以現金付賬，並自行運送回家）﹔順帶補充各種商店的說法：「grocery store / shop」（雜貨店）、「retail store」（零售店）、「outlet」（暢貨中心）、「category killer」（精品獨賣店）、「specialty store」（專賣店）等。

百貨公司和各大賣場舉行的特賣活動種類很多，像是對話中的「anniversary sale」就是「週年慶」的意思，也可以說成「annual sale」，而「年終慶，年底清倉大拍賣」則可以用「year-end clearance」或「year-end closeout」來表達，「year-end」意指「年終，年底」，「clearance」和「closeout」都是「出清存貨，清倉大拍賣」的意思。 另外，常見的特賣活動還有：「end-of-season sale」（換季特賣）、「back-to-school sale」（開學特賣）、「Christmas sale」（聖誕特賣會）、「Thanksgiving sale」（感恩節特賣會）等。而特賣會中常見到的促銷標語或手法有：「lowest-priced products」（最低價商品）、「Carrefour exclusive」（家樂福獨家販售）、「limited time, limited quantity」（限時限量）、「limited first-release」（首批限量）、「promotional give-away」（促銷贈品）等。

「pressed」表示「（時間、金錢等）緊迫的」，常以「be 動詞 + pressed for + N.」的型態表示，例如：「You’d better hurry up. I’m pressed for time.」（你最好快一點。我趕時間。）以及「The student was pressed for the answer to the question.」（這名學生被催促著要趕快回答這個問題。）與「趕時間」相關的說法還有：「rushed for time」、「in a rush」和「in a hurry」，例如：「Are you in a hurry now?」 （你現在趕時間嗎？）
