Dear all,
I am Cindy. I am so happy to find this website. I have been looking for an English study club for a long time, until I found it. I just can’t explain how excited I am now.
While I was in the school, I was a lazy student and never put English in my heart. I didn’t care about my English exam score was only about 20 something. I always thought that I would never use it when I finish my school life. However, I was totally wrong. Since our society has becoming so multicultural, it seems that if you have no idea about English then you will get fire from this society. Therefore, I started to go to cram school to get what I have had lost during the school time.
Once you gave up the best time to learn a new language, it’s so hard to start it over again. I am glad I have broken away from my shadow and have brave to face my problem instead of evading it. Even I still feel frustrated of studying English all the time, but I never think of give it up again. Moreover, I start to like it and enjoy using it. I know that only enthusiasm brings the motivation to rich my goal.
Thanks for everyone sharing your study experience. Thanks for Happy establishing such a great study club. I hope to join you all, and I will be a good member as well. ^_^
Best regards
Cindy

multicultural!! Acctually I'd never found Taiwan as a multicultual island, and it's been really interisting to know you think so. Perhaps you can give us more ideas about your point of view for Taiwanese society and some example of why it has been so called "muticultural"...

Cindy, according to your writing, your English has been definitely far better than it was when you are a student. Well done, Cindy, Well done! And Welcome!!

hey Tom,
Thanks for compliment.
About "multicultural", its just my opinion. Many years ago, I could barely meet foreigners here in Taiwan. However, since I went to the university, I met people from Western countries, South Asia, European, Japan, China, and Egypt...etc. A couple of my classmates are foreigners too, so in the school, there are some different cultural activities. Therefore, I got the chance to know the different cultural things. That's quite interesting though.
I tell you one of my experience, once Christmas, I gave some candy and chocolate to all of my classmates, including some Arab and Indian. Guess what, the Arab were so mad, then talked about religion and politics for about an hour. They hate American and they think Christmas is belong to American's holiday. Since that I've realized that Arab don't celecbrate Christmas. At that time, I didn't think so much, I just want to share the happiness. That's my fault, because I didn't have the sensitive of the religion and political issue.
well, its just one short story. :o I shouldn't say that Taiwan is a multicultural island, perhaps, its just a global village issue.

Cindy,
It certainly cannot be denied that trend toward globlization makes this city seems cosmopolitan, although from where I'm standing, the environment in Taipei, compare to another big city like London, are no doubt mainly possessed by Tiwanese culture and partially Americanization. The experience in the university, where a number of international students are around, is obsolutely wanderful. So, what and where did you study in? It could be a very good school I think!

Looking forward to see you next gathering. We can talk more!
Cheers!
