Topic Discussion Article: The Way We Teach Math, Sciences, and Languages Is Wrong (文章)
Questions:
Session 1
1.) How did you learn your english? Was there some aspects of your learning that corresponds to the active approach as described in this article? Did it help?
2.) Did you learn other languages besides english? What are your experiences on the second foreign language you've received or heard about?
3.) Do you have experience regarding physics or mathematics taught using this method? What are your experiences and what manner of teaching do you prefer? Why?
Topic Discussion Article: Horizontal vs. Vertical: An International Comparison of Teaching Methods (文章)
Session 2
4.) Share your experiences on horizontal teaching and vertical teaching. What are the best parts of each method of teaching and your most memorable moments?
5.) What do you think about the outlier Japan for its vertical teaching and high level of trust? What do you think the reason behind this trust? Can we copy that to Taiwan?
6.) Is vertical teaching really that bad? Think of some examples where vertical teaching is better than horizontal teaching, or situations when such teaching is more suitable for a society.
