Questions:
1. Is parting with much of anything hard for you or are you a good organizer who can’t tolerate being in a mess?

2. Have you had a quarrel with any close one, e.g. your spouse, a girl or boy friend, a family member, a roommate or a coworker, etc. just because you had different habits and ways to tidy up stuff?

3. Do have any particular organizing methods to make your life, work or home easy to be taken care of?

4. People have never regarded their possessions in purely utilitarian. Do you or your loved ones have collections which are very hard to part with? How do you see these feelings of attachment?

5. No matter how much we may want to keep all of our possessions, in reality, it’s unavoidable to have to get rid of stuff sometimes, e.g. while moving home, sparing space for other uses, etc. Can you share experiences about how you disposed the stuff?

6. If you have watched the film "The Story of Stuff", can you share your views?

7. After reading this article about the new notion of danshari, does it inspire you? Do you think Taiwan will follow the trend after Japan?

Dear Taichung Happiers:

How would you define the feeling of content? I feel it when I share food with friends and when someone gives me a big smile. Do you feel it when your sentimental collections remind you of sweet memories? What makes you smile and feel good?

Speaking of tidying up, my grandmother used to “encourage” me in this way:” If you don’t keep your bowl neat when you finish your meal, you will marry to the ugliest man in the world”. I know, I know, I know, she was spreading the superstitious belief. However, her intention was good so I still love her. Yet, let’s take a look at our pretty and graceful Jane who married to a decent gentleman, and we may wonder that maybe my grandmother was the mirror on the wall. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to join this weekend’s discussion-- Decluttering: Self-Cultivation by Subtraction.

“Contentment is natural wealth, luxury is artificial poverty”, said Socrates. We always see Happiers’ content smiles on Saturdays, meaning that Taichung Happiers are all wealthy enough. Let’s be the one who sweetens life for others by doing something that makes them smile and creates happiness.
