Dear Taichung Happiers,

What can we do if we want 18 scoops with 18 flavors in an ice cream cone?

Eighteen Flavors
by Shel Silverstein

Eighteen luscious, scrumptious flavors
Chocolate, lime and cherry,
Coffee, pumpkin, fudge banana
Caramel cream and boysenberry.
Rocky road and toasted almond,
Butterscotch, vanilla dip,
Butter brickle, apple ripple,
Coconut and mocha chip,
Brandy peach and lemon custard,
Each scoop lovely, smooth and round,
Tallest ice cream cone in town,
Lying there (sniff) on the ground.

I have to thank you if you are still here; you might have the impulse like mine—rushing into an ice cream shop now. The communicator and author Eric Samuel Timm noted: “Overeating at Thanksgiving is a case in point. It's a national tradition.” Shall we employ this point for overeating during Chinese New Year holiday? Ah, eating too much? Other than these special days, we’d better not pile our guilty pleasure too high. Therefore, let’s put our heads together and pin down Joey’s topic precisely: “How to satisfy your hunger without eating too much?” We sincerely welcome all of your suggestions and solutions. (Or, you prefer to confess your excessive indulgence in eating? That will be ok, too.)

“To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art”, said the noted French author François VI, Duc de La Rochefoucauld, (1613 –1680). Mastering this art or not, we appreciate the conclusions researchers have reached for treating food addiction. The constructs are verified via environmental, psychological and biological perspectives. Furthermore, having the aspirations to rebuild the connection with internal experience, Professor Jean Kristeller encourages our mindfulness awareness to create a new relationship with food.

Pile up our 18 flavors ice cream cones, and share them before they sniff on the ground. For health, for children in poverty and for our future planet, why not share our food, share our enthusiasm, and share our compassion?
