Dear Taichung Happiers,
Once upon a time………………..
Sarah was always late to work no matter how much she tried to be on time, or how many times her boss scolded her. She just could not wake up on time. Her boss said she would fire her if it did not stop. Sarah decided to seek the advice of her doctor. He prescribed her some medication and told her to take one pill before going to sleep. She did and she woke up before the alarm clock sounded and headed into work feeling well rested. Sarah told her boss about the doctor’s prescription and how well it worked. Her boss said, “That is great, Sarah, but where were you yesterday?”
Peter Drucker (American management educator, November 19, 1909 – November 11, 2005) stressed the concern: “Until we can manage time, we can manage nothing else.” For the concept development, our host Micro has provided a practical topic: 11 Solid Ways to Improve Your Time Management Skills. In fact, our values and expectations are the determining factors in setting priorities for time management. Thanks to the questions Micro designed for Happiers -- about our most unforgettable memories and work-life balance, our values and expectations will be unmistakably reflected via the discussion. Nevertheless, we are not the only people to struggle for work-life balance, and here is another brilliant warrior: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXM7MpoVAD0Reaching work-life balance can be a journey of seeking for our lost values. What is the most important to us? Can we resist the temptation of comfort and familiarity to keep the precious yet unpredictable elements engaging? Perhaps, instead of more time, what we truly need is to see what our sparkling eyes are reminding us of. Every Wednesday, I wake up with a contented smile, because of the availability of my favorite authors’ performances which have been waited for so long. And, look, the white butterfly is forming a pleasing color contrast to the flowers and vegetables in my balcony. I can’t believe it is March already. Can you believe we will have the 260th gathering on March 8th? Oh, yes, time flies. However, “Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein”, said American author H. Jackson Brown, Jr. We appreciate the time we are given; we will appreciate more if Happiers’ values can touch each others’—it will promise ourselves having more quality time together.
Find the time where we find values. Shh…… open our ears, what is calling us?Best Wishes,
Jasmine
