Dear Taichung Happiers,

Poem riddle first:

What is wider than life itself
Longer than forever
So simple it’s complicated
Travels but never leaves the spot
Puts others in danger but no one gets hurt
And reaches to worlds unknown?

British philosopher Bertrand Russell (18 May 1872 – 2 February 1970) indicated "Very many people spend money in ways quite different from those that their natural tastes would enjoin, merely because the respect of their neighbors depends upon their possession of a good car and their ability to give good dinners. As a matter of fact, any man who can obviously afford a car but genuinely prefers travels or a good library will in the end be much more respected than if he behaved exactly like everyone else." Well, do you prefer spending your savings on a good car or travels? Hummmm….. I am dreaming of a library tour around the world.

People say that there are only two stages of life: Either you are on the trip, or you are planning for your next trip. Hey, but, life is so short, never stick to your planning stage for too long. Just fly! The primary concern is to plan and spend our travel budget wisely. For this weekend, our host Joey is introducing this article with relevant tips for your future travel projects: 9 Easy Ways to Save Money on Your Next Vacation.

Budget travel doesn’t necessarily go in the opposite direction of quality. It is a firm voice reminding us not to be intoxicated too much by our comfort zone, even during the trip. In his book Travels, Michael Crichton (October 23, 1942 – November 4, 2008), an American best-selling author and physician, expressed "Often I feel I go to some distant region of the world to be reminded of who I really am... Stripped of your ordinary surroundings, your friends, your daily routines, your refrigerator full of your food, your closet full of your clothes, you are forced into direct experience. Such direct experience inevitably makes you aware of who it is that is having the experience. That's not always comfortable, but it is always invigorating." Don’t you think the low-budget travel is the best training of creative process?

How many destinations are on your dream vacation list? I got plenty, and maybe you have more than plenty. Living the dream requires a significant investment in time, money, and energy. Whether we can afford it and make it happen depends on the blend of a positive attitude, determination, and hard work. Now, listen to the story about how a 100% blind and 80 % deaf man has solo travelled to 62 countries.
