Thanks a lot for your attention.

Questions:
1. When do you usually go to bed? If you are a night owl (usually go to bed after mid-night), what do you usually do till so late?

2. This article points out people have the best short term memory during 9 am- 12 am. Most of students always burn the midnight oil to study before the exam. Does it work? Or is it better to get up very early to study? What is your experience?

3. Will eating late at night make us fat? Most people would say “Yes”. Do you have any strategy to avoid weight gain while still eating late?

4. Except for the tips for a good night's sleep from the video, do you have any other good ways to share with us?

Dear Taichung Happiers,

An obviously overweight young man decided to sign up for a weight loss program complete with a personal trainer. It included a run each morning at 6:00 a.m. So when the door bell rings the next morning, he's dressed and ready to go. When he opens the door he sees the most beautiful blonde he has ever seen. She's tall, very well endowed above a very slim waist with long graceful legs. She's dressed in a small pair of running shorts and a running halter that can barely contain her. She smiles and says, "If you can catch me, you can have me." and starts off at a very fast run. This continues each morning. After about three very frustrating weeks the young man begins to get in shape and can almost keep up with her. One morning he's barely able to touch her running shorts but can't hang on. But he thinks tomorrow will be the big day. I'll catch her and have her. He barely sleeps that night waiting in eager anticipation. The next morning, the bell rings precisely at 6:00 am. He runs to the door and throws it open. There stands a huge burley woman, at least six feet five inches in height and over 250 pounds. She's muscled up like a plough ox and has a large wart amid her facial hair. She smiles and says, "I'm your new trainer. If I can catch you, I can have you!"

Benjamin Franklin (January 17, 1706 – April 17, 1790), one of the Founding Fathers of the United States made this well-known suggestion: “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.” Understanding that people have different standards for how early is truly “early”, our host Harris offered this striking topic: Explore your Body Clock. As soon as I finished reviewing this week’s discussion questions, the above story just came to my mind.

Does the early bird really get the worm? This is an intriguing debate theme among scientists. Christoph Randler is a professor of biology at the University of Education in Heidelberg, Germany. In Harvard Business Review (July–August 2010), Professor Randler expressed differing traits between Morning People (agreeable, stable, proactive, etc.) and Evening People (intelligent, humorous, extroverted, etc.), and explained his research finding about Morning People’s “more proactive” trait contributes to their better position for career success.

German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche (15 October 1844 – 25 August 1900) reminded people “There is more reason in your body than in your best wisdom.” Which is your preferred body clock? How do you make best of it to complete yourself? Do we require different attitudes to think about our body clock to deploy the quality of mind? Anyway, for all night owls and morning larks, finishing this bonus fun can guarantee you a good night’s sleep--shake your body and dance on the clock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIPEVHGjdP4 Practice it three times per day, and the weight loss trainer will never knock your door! S…m…i…l…e!
