Dear Taichung Happiers,

“Mom, how come computers are so smart?”
“Because they listen to their motherboards.”

We love her. She is the prettiest genie always understanding us without our words. Nevertheless, we feel so sorry for somehow not focusing enough on her, although we always say “Mom, without you, I am nothing.” We have never finished the homework of figuring out her needs and wants, especially for Mother’s Day. She is everything. Yes, she is. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to join our considerate host Harris in exploring “What Mama wants”.

Mama is the giving tree. Mama gives us both what she can give and what she can’t give--and asks for nothing in return. All mama worries about is not being able to give more, give enough, and give forever.

Mama is the best role model. The first President of the United States George Washington (February 22, 1732 – December 14, 1799) credited his mother with more. “My mother was the most beautiful woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her.” Mama is the water--which we learn to become like--transporting us to the impossible journey.

Mama is the best chef. The farther you are away from home, the deeper you fall in love with Mama’s cooking. Let’s do something for(with) Mom, shall we? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPX0moMR8m8

Mama actually wants nothing but the light gathered in you.
From “The Light Gatherer” (by Carol Ann Duffy)

When you were small, your cupped palms
Each held a candleworth under the skin, enough light to begin,
And as you grew,
Light gathered in you, two clear raindrops
In your eyes,
Warm pearls, shy,
In the lobes of your ears, even always
The light of a smile after your tears.

What does Mama want? Oh, no worries. It’s not about the present; it’s all about your heart.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plH8hWuXZlw Can you see what reflects in mama’s eyes? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EdRUWelDKE Join us before giving Mama a kiss, because we love her. Yes, we love her. (Welcome to bring your mom to join us tomorrow.)
