Dear Taichung Happiers,

“I need inspiration. Honey, do you mind putting the toothpaste on my toothbrush?” Hey, don’t worry. It was the creative morning routine and authentic well-being of Sigmund Freud’s.

How do you construct your curious corner to be more inviting to your muse? Taichung Happiers’ best friend Albert Einstein chose the most enduring cornerstone. “Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.” For this weekend, our first-time host James, an academic research enthusiast, is pitching a theme--which couldn’t be more important to us--The Creative Life and Well-Being. Welcome to join us in exploring our creativity together.

American psychologist and educator Martin Seligman proposed the elements of well-being: “Well-being is a combination of feeling good as well as actually having meaning, good relationships and accomplishment.” The pursuit of well-being is a journey with no ending.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lEamu1xkBk Yet creativity can be the most involved agent of our well-being. Why? George Lois, an American art director and author acknowledged the role creativity plays: “Creativity can solve almost any problem. The creative act, the defeat of habit by originality, overcomes everything.”

What creative process works best for you? Are we confident enough to embrace more ideas without judgment, analyze them according to our collective resources, and plan for the implementation to thrive? Are we brave enough to correct ourselves? Having collaborated with leaders at distinguished organizations, such as Google, Coca-Cola, and Bank of America, Tony Schwartz interpreted how the creative thinking stages dance back and forth between right and left hemisphere dominance.
https://hbr.org/2011/11/how-to-think-creatively.html While doing what we love creatively, we feel the sparks strike and forget everything but enjoying being present. When we start to create, the freedom of well-being is forever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_F9L362b4TE

Creativity is innate—we don’t always use it effectively, though. To cultivate the creative habit, we have been encouraged to find the balance between divergent thinking and convergent thinking, and blend art with science; the music of hybrid-thinking-is-the-solution has been turned up. How can creativity lift us to self-actualization, organizational growth, and humanity? Ask Leonardo, shall we? http://www.amazon.com/Leonardos-Brain-Understanding-Vincis-Creative/dp/1491529822

Let us also take a peek at Michelangelo’s happiness of creating the angel in the marble.
From “Sonnet addressed to Vittoria Colonna” (by Michelangelo)
As when, O lady mine,
With chiselled touch
The stone unhewn and cold
Becomes a living mould,
The more the marble wastes,
The more the statue grows.

Finding, using, and sharing creativity is more than rewarding. Award-winning author Maya Angelou (April 4, 1928 – May 28, 2014) reassured us “You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” So, come join us to have more. Oh, and you can pack this exercise in your creative bag, too.
