Dear Taichung Happiers,

I’ve just invented a great new iPhone alarm app. If you press the snooze button 3 times it automatically emails your boss telling them that you’re gonna be sick.

What is your daily routine? How big is the gap between your daily routine expectation and reality?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHTMhr138Nc Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Dillard offered another alarm call: “How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.” For this weekend, our host Howard has turned himself from the lie detective into the time detective. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to join Howard to articulate the strategies for spending time wisely.

Why does Harvard Business School Professor Bob Pozen believe in having a very boring breakfast and lunch? American poet and philosopher Henry David Thoreau (July 12, 1817 – May 6, 1862) used to state: “It’s not enough to be busy, so are the ants. The question is, what are we busy about?” Yup, Professor Bob Pozen admonishes us to think about more important things.
https://hbr.org/2011/04/productivity-secrets-of-a-very Time is a gift of the mirror. Do you always focus on what the organization needs most from you to improve personal and organizational productivity? How to solve the paradox for a peaceful combination of priorities and flexibility?

We cannot manage time; yet, we can manage the paradoxes. What things can save you more time when you spend more time on it? Dr. Kathryn Alesandrini made a practical suggestion: “It's not a good idea to cut back indiscriminately on what you read. The reason is that reading can save you time, because it gives you the opportunity to learn from other people's experience." Check out the story Library Lion which teaches us to enhance invisible advantages for true productivity, even, sometimes, at the cost of breaking rules.

Quality Time (By Shel Silverstein)

My father is a golfer--
He let me be his tee.
He puts the ball upon my nose
And hits it right off me.
He says that I can share the joy
Of every ball he hits.
Oh, ain’t it grand to have a dad
Who spends time with his kids.

If you are still here, thank you—we self-interrupt ourselves about every 3 and a half minutes—while multitasking is allowed by technology. Researchers have found it takes several minutes to half an hour to shuffle back to your previous task before the interruption. Furthermore, Psychologist Daniel Goleman advised that every kind of attention has a purpose and a place and encouraged leaders to have three kinds of focus: inner focus to manage themselves; other focus to read other people and communicate effectively; outer focus of the systems awareness for strategic thinking.

Any other paradoxes about time management to think about? Inspirational Writer Israelmore Ayivor’s striking metaphors serve as an enduring reminder--“Time flies fast, but it's good you are the pilot. Just control your time well away from hijackers. Save time profitably; Spend time productively!” Make every day your best day--oh, yes--especially, Saturday!!! Join us. Thanks! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yss0SGzrUIY
