Thanks a lot for your attention. Questions: 1. How often do you buy books and where do you buy them? What kind of books do you like to read?
2. Have you ever been to Eslite bookstores to buy books? Except for buying books, what kind of experiences do you have in Eslite bookstores? And, it is on the list of “Top 10 Attractions in Taiwan”. Why do people in Taiwan and foreign tourists alike love these bookstores?
3. Have you ever been to conventional bookstores? What do you usually buy in conventional bookstores, and what are your nostalgic memories of traditional bookstores? Over the past 10 years, these old book stores have disappeared almost completely in Taiwan. There are 120 towns in remote areas of Taiwan without any bookstores. How to bridge the learning gap for those kids in rural areas?
4. Eslite Bookstore is more than a bookseller. Eslite Bookstores have become Culture and Creative Industry Centers which cover department stores, restaurants, hotels, and real estate development. Have you noticed the transformation that Eslite bookstores have made? And, have you ever been to Eslite Culture Parks in Taiwan? How to do promotions for profitable and sustainable cultural industries? What other special Culture Parks in Taiwan or in other countries can you recommend to us?

Dear Taichung Happiers,
Can we turn a “Reading Challenge” into a “Bookstore Game”? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fVXQzWV8RuoWhat do bookshops mean to you? Irish writer Marian Keyes simply put, “A bookshop was like an Aladdin's cave for me. Entire worlds and lives can be found just behind that glossy cover. All you had to do was look." For this weekend, our host Kevin is inviting Happiers to check out this Aladdin’s cave which makes the Taiwanese so proud of. Ladies and gentlemen, sisters and brothers, welcome to join us in flying the magic reading carpet again.
The value of books is the value of believing in yourself. Marcel Proust (10 July 1871 – 18 November 1922), one of the greatest authors of all time, successfully deciphered it: “Every reader finds himself. The writer’s work is merely a kind of optical instrument that makes it possible for the reader to discern what, without this book, he would perhaps never have seen in himself.” By reading more and more, you learn to discover your nature, what you care about, and what values that induce your adherence. In books, you can find and believe in the “future you”. All right, the curious mind is whispering “How???”. How to read more? Here are some tips. http://austinkleon.com/2014/12/29/how-to-read-more/What would your ideal bookshop be like? If you have to choose three words for it, what will they be? What books can inspire your devotion to a “Bookstore Adventure”? How about these: “The Little Paris Bookshop” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwFCDmDk2iI and "Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-r5D3yadOQg ? If you have dreamed of establishing yourself as a bookshop owner, this unbelievably beautiful and adorable Hobbit-Hole bookstore can show you what opportunities and challenges you have to face. https://medium.com/@tgeorgakopoulos/the-most-beautiful-bookstore-on-earth-cdb6932b3938#.r48jh1743 Remember that a dreamer can be a dreamer only when he or she is also a doer; therefore, keep learning and dream on! http://harvardpolitics.com/online/fall-bookstores/ Now, I don’t mean to skip the poem-reading fun; however, kids in bookstores can be more than poets—how can we ignore it? For example, in a bookstore--
Little boy: When I grow up, I'm going to be a book ninja!
Talent Scout: What's a book ninja?
Little boy: I can't tell you. It's a secret

Before the marketing strategy, what comes to our minds is always how to make this world a better place. Yet, the fact is: not all the kids are so fortunate enough to experience the sheer joy of being with books. Despite author Lucy Dillon’s assertion that “A town without a bookshop is a town without a soul”, the number of remote village kids who have never seen any books in their entire lives is beyond our imagination. To create more opportunities for kids to see, touch, and feel books, bibliophile travelers Akshaya and Satabdi have been taking the rough roads and encourage people to share the imagination, innovation, and ideas out loud. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUGd9tmXaBQ&app=desktopHow do you feel in bookstores? Whatever bookshops can evolve into, bookstores forever represent our identity and culture. You are constantly dancing in the circle with books--books help nurture your nature and you share our “gift” to light up more corners in return--along the journey, books are your best friends that you can lean on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwXLskuj0cg So, what are you waiting for? Join us. Thanks!!! With Gratitude,
Jasmine
