Topic: Training the Brain How to Focus Better and Avoid Distractions

Questions:
1. Have you ever seen people texting or emailing in the midst of a meeting or a presentation? Are you guilty of doing this? Are you one of those people who can’t seem to be able to focus and concentrate without interruptions?

2. Have you ever been influenced by extreme emotions like anger, anxiety, and sadness so that you couldn’t focus on your work? How did you deal with this situation?

3. Do you know when and where you focus best? And how do you schedule your time for the tougher tasks and no brainer ones?

4. What is the reward that you would like to give yourself when you accomplish it with flying colors?

5. Is it difficult for you to turn all your focus on a new task and leave nothing behind on the previous one? How do you deal with this situation?

6. Do you have the ability to multitask and enjoy it everywhere? Or does multitasking encumber you in some way, like becoming very vulnerable to distractions?

7. Do you find any tips useful on helping your brain to focus?

20160716, Gathering, Tainan Happy English Club


Gathering on July 16, 2016:
It was a great afternoon gathering at Masa Loft. Today, we’re glad to have Peter(1st time visitor), and Sonia(2nd time visitor) come to this meeting with the Tainan Happiers, Grace, Joseph, Janice, Amber, Becky and Ken, as well as Happy, founder of the HEC in this meeting. Peter works at NCKU as a researcher and likes to know new friends here. We appreciated for his sharing with rich experiences and stories. Then, we played a game by Ken for a limited time. And Becky was lucky in this game to sing the song of twinkle twinkle little star to entertain us. Hope we can play this game for more time and more fun another time.

Do you have trouble to focus and easily to be interrupted by busy work environment or emotion? Do you have the ability to multitask and enjoy it every well? Or does multitasking encumber you in some way, like becoming very vulnerable to distractions? Nowadays, we are frequently involved in these kinds of scenario. We might need to train our brain how to focus better and avoid distractions. Do you find any good tips to share with us? After reading and discussing the article and questions, hope you guys would be inspired a lot from today’s activity.
