Dear Taichung Happiers,
Music is a vertical garden—find the hidden treasure! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dw6LBO69HkMWhen I was an elementary student, “Jasminnnnnnne………., you forget your lunch BOKSSSSS……………….”, all passerby students giggling (our house was just about 100 meters away from the school), how could I have known that my Mom’s morning ritual was subsequently stretched into the sweetest music in my life? In high school, appreciating the beauty of music was one thing, and concentrating on my Music teacher's words was another. At the class, I only kept praying to be as elegant as her. It was not until last summer that my deeper curiosity was aroused by the assertion from German composer and pianist Ludwig van Beethoven (17 December 1770 – 26 March 1827), “Music is the one incorporeal entrance into the higher world of knowledge which comprehends mankind but which mankind cannot comprehend”—yet, yet, yet, hasn’t literature supposedly done infinitely more than we can inquire or imagine? Feeling more music thus becomes one of my 2017 New Year’s Resolutions. Ladies and gentlemen, what does music mean to you? How has music stolen your heart? Welcome to share your story with our host Harry.
I think of music; therefore, I am? Without music, our lives would be permanently temporary. I think of music; therefore, I am. Music can’t keep anyone’s secrets for even an hour? http://www.independent.co.uk/extras/puzzles-and-games/what-does-your-taste-in-music-say-about-your-personality-take-the-quiz-a6931991.html Above all, loving the film La La Land or not https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEpDpPJqs_o , through this film, you notice the nature of music, just like Award-winning writer Sarah Dessen has notified: “Music is a total constant. That’s why we have such a strong visceral connection to it, you know? Because a song can take you back instantly to a moment, or a place, or even a person. No matter what else has changed in you or the world, that one song stays the same, just like that moment.” With this “constant” nature, music has come to be the enzyme to convert our innocence into the passion for life purposes. Professor Lawrence Golan, a professional orchestra conductor and violinist, interprets how classical music, the incredible encouragement, bridges his biggest dreams in personal and professional lives. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v16gzwsQNuk However, in everyday life, inevitably, fears and desires befriend us proactively— fears and desires could even be highly enslaving. Sooooo…….., singing in the shower is the super salvation? No worries. Music always coasts through the edge of circles and circles to capture our souls so that we can hear clearly the most beautiful sound of choices and chances. Yes, time to get loud. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qPgK_u4vX8 Profoundly immersing ourselves in art visualizes the turning point of realizing how small we are; art is the intriguing incentive of our existence. It is Identity that makes music more than just music.
“OURCHESTRA” (by Shel Silverstein)
So you haven’t got a drum, just beat your belly.
So I haven’t got a horn—I’ll play my nose.
So we haven’t any cymbals—
We’ll just slap our hands together,
And though there may be orchestras
That sound a little better
With their fancy shiny instruments
That cost an awful lot—
Hey, we’re making music twice as good
By playing what we’ve got!
Do you get book-drunk more often, or music-drunk? 1,2,3,1,2,3, drink…….1,2,3,1,2,3, drink…….Like reading, music drives us to daydream, to disclose, to explore new experiences, and to keep our passion from cooling. Music inspires our imagination to travel through time and space; music inspires creativity. Everyone chooses their own music freely every day, every hour, and music inspires and interacts with every form of arts. We are most familiar with the combination of Classical Music and Ballet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrnczScoyYI Other random examples include American singer and songwriter Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize in literature and how beloved Russian-French modernist painter Marc Chagall extended his colors to the fourth dimension, music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMhiNoZlkPg Music is the chief cheerleader for feeling within ourselves. The paradox that art and creativity have in common is the “learn and unlearn” process. Check out how the story The Man with the Violin commends kids’ curiosity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4H4ViR4EKI Moreover, without one step closer, we might regard Classical Music as redoubtable as remote castles. Nevertheless, Dr. Paul Semendinger’s “confession” and contemplation convince us that Classical Music isn’t intimidating at all, and the implication of the quality instruction is flying the creativity flag. https://www.edutopia.org/discussion/what-classical-music-can-teach-about-quality-instruction Zin zin zin, a violin. Win win win, a sweeping win. You are Beethoven, and you are the symphony. It is Creativity that makes music more than just music.
I don’t like it, no……., I love it. Our hearts sing—everyone is a music superhero. Most importantly, music is the best opportunity maker for building trust—among people, among languages, and among cultures. Trust helps music ignite fusion. Like the sprouting source of the ocean’s energy, fusion chain reactions are sincere. Chinese American cellist Yo-Yo Ma proclaims his purpose for culture and fusion: “As you begin to realize that every different type of music, everybody's individual music, has its own rhythm, life, language and heritage, you realize how life changes, and you learn how to be more open and adaptive to what is around us.” His breathtakingly blissful documentary film The Music of Strangers is a must! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26Ofj4hOVpA Indeed, It’s killing us when music is away. Music empowers us to communicate with our own and others’ emotions; music empowers us to conquer along the identity-discovering path; music empowers us to commit ourselves to compassion and community. Music heals only if compassion shines farther https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntp7WP7DclM ; communities sustain only if compassion shines farther. It is Community that makes music more than just music.
“The best is yet to come.” Music is all about how we feel and think of everything. American poet John Greenleaf Whittier (December 17, 1807 – September 7, 1892) gave us enduring insight into music. “The best of a book is not the thought which it contains, but the thought which it suggests; just as the charm of music dwells not in the tones but in the echoes of our hearts.” Yes. Music is the remarkable reminder of Hope. We are hoping for more balance, justice, and collective confidence. It is Humanity that makes music more than just music. Music, like ice cream, is so delicious that we can’t live without; music, like virtue, is our inner purpose; music, like reading, can always fly us to a whole new world. Join us. Thanks!!!
