Dear Taichung Happiers,
It’s better to travel in groups. No? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdUkJfW_xmYCrowd behavior--it’s not about the scar--it’s all about your heart. What role do crowds play in people’s lives? How to spring between worlds seen and unseen? Do you love yourself more in real life or in social media? Oscar Wilde (16 October 1854 – 30 November 1900), one of the most iconic figures in late Victorian England, spoke from an open heart. “I won't tell you that the world matters nothing, or the world's voice, or the voice of society. They matter a good deal. They matter far too much. But there are moments when one has to choose between living one's own life, fully, entirely, completely—or dragging out some false, shallow, degrading existence that the world in its hypocrisy demands. You have that moment now. Choose!” So, why don’t we take a turn? Let us choose to swim against currents of stereotype that the ripple effect of crowd behaviors oftentimes makes rational force washed away. We are not naïve, yet we choose to be perceptive as well as positive--we choose to create collective transformations in cultural values—we choose to make crowd behaviors flourishing, instead of frustrating, by aligning everyone ‘s signature strength. Our minds, which have thereby been spinning, will rearrange themselves; we will feel ourselves again. Good living is never far away from nature—crowd is part of the nature. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to join our host Bill in choosing a bigger collective dream.
Collective creativity. “The ultimate inspiration for creativity is the deadline.” Once we accomplish the purpose of creativity, what happens to our human nature and the value within every organization, community, and society? What is the creative thinking context in our culture? Which creative DNA can make us hear melodies in everything and with them see colors? The research results take us by surprise: reading fiction can be as powerful as the creative DNA. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/10400419.2013.783735 Moreover, our soaring imagination cultivates creativity like what Author Anna Antinori, a psychologist at the University of Melbourne in Australia, has asserted: “When people are extra open to new experiences — a trait that’s also been linked to insight and imagination — things can look a little different. Their brains are able to flexibly engage with less conventional solutions. We believe this is the first empirical evidence that they have different visual experiences to the average individual.” Furthermore, in a business/organization context, collective creativity is the top secret preventing our team from walking off, fading into a sea of running faces. We are what we share; behind every genius….... are a bunch of other geniuses. https://ore.exeter.ac.uk/repository/handle/10871/16554 Our fierce attempts for collective creativity need complete competence. Complete. Diversity. Agility (acting and planning the way forward). Reliability (valuing every contribution). Additionally, I would like to endorse this new skill of brainstorming--focus on questions, not answers, for breakthrough insights. https://hbr.org/2018/03/better-brainstorming All right, relax, please. Love Ratatouille, the pride of Pixar’s collective creativity? Pixar is Pixar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5qOzqD9RmsCollective conversion. “I put a dollar in a change machine. Nothing changed.” Define familiarity. Define novelty. Define meaning. Former Secretary of the State of Connecticut Pauline R. Kezer injected the image of the significance of change into our minds. “Continuity gives us roots; change gives us branches, letting us stretch and grow and reach new heights.” To change is to mature. It feels difficult. Yet, the beauty worthy of our contemplation and preparation is knowing who we'll become, what we don’t know we don’t know, and where our collective evolution is committed to. Who are we? How engaged are we without the inspiration of change? https://www.forbes.com/sites/chriscancialosi/2015/09/15/collective-impact-a-collaborative-approach-to-creating-change/#f4a384f740be To change is to explore a growth mindset. A growth mindset is an interdependence mindset, which allows that collaborative approach to bring out the best in everyone, and that there's an opportunity for fulfilling individual responsibilities and collective responsibilities. To change is to plant the seeds of trust and compassion. The trust in our past and the trust in our present are two unbroken wings for us to fly high with fearlessness. The path of positive change is sometimes pretty dynamic and complicated—if seeking reassurance in collective action is not the goal, what is? We can be positive change warriors by serving, by inspiring, by learning, by being generous enough to preserve others’ dignity, and by appreciating the golden petals of compassion raining down. The door to further quest can be opened by the culture of compassion--take one step closer to make this world a better place. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VML4VmSlCcFrom “Resolve” (by Ella Wheeler Wilcox)
Prate not of thy repentance.
But believe
The spark divine dwells in thee: let it grow.
That which the unpreaching spirit can achieve,
The grand and all creative forces know;
They will assist and strengthen as the light
Lifts up the acorn to the oak-tree’s height.
Thou hast but to resolve, and lo! God’s whole
Great universe shall fortify thy soul.
Collective confidence. People are sheep. TV is the shepherd? Confidence flies us on the edge of the sea, where the possible is felt deeper. Only when constantly exercised can our confidence muscles be beautiful. Whenever, wherever, demonstrate our assuredness with body language, dress better to feel better, learn speaking skills from favorite speakers, think and act positively, and take more actions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6liHdYi-3U Confidence is a gift. When we are confident and treating people with respect, we give others our self-confidence, which is contagious. We feel a little bit out-of-body, because we have a sensation of being free and fortunate again--it doesn’t matter where we are--we'll find out the whole sky was colored in glorious celebration. We are not perfect; we are, actually, only human. However, we should trust, collectively, in our abilities, qualities, and judgment. To build initiatives to support collective competence and confidence, context is the highlight. https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/10108066 Collective confidence needs constant conservation just like a garden. We feed it with the daily delivery of admiration, awareness, and acceptance. Collective confidence gravitates to the rhythm of shared structures and standards in the way a plant arches up to the sunlight. With collective confidence, we are reassured that every small win counts; we can always be prepared—never rely on anyone else to give us things that we can get by ourselves; we can implement long term strategies for immediate challenges. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oOJRkDmAw8 Above all, stop looking to feel superior to someone else. Nobody is better out than another; we have to look at the projection we cast on each other. Only when we master the art and practice of collective confidence, can we feel deeply about the contentment along the journey that is full of challenges and rewards.
What is our collective dream but another name of “connection”? Brené Brown, a research professor at the University of Houston, defines connection as “the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” Connection, connection, connection. Our own fur has been the connection. Connection is to create moments that matter—and, as many moments as possible; connection is valuing “We” over “I”; connection is giving people more and better choices. We are part of the endless whole. So, be compelling, build confidence, and give out our strength as well as warmth. Interact with the world and embrace the collective identity--it’s not about the scar--it’s all about our hearts. Hear the world hum, shall we? Join us. Thanks!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jil-SbVSry8With Gratitude,
Jasmine
