Thanks a lot for your attention. Questions:1. What is your experience of using YouTube? How often or how long do you watch YouTube per week, on average?
2. Have you watched those YouTube channels mentioned in this article? If yes, what are your opinions about their videos? If not, what are the channels or contents which you have recently watched or enjoyed the most?
3. If possible, do you want to be a YouTuber? If yes, what kind of contents do you want to share with your audience? (or, how do you want to run your channel?) If not, what kind of contents do you want to watch more, but right now it's a bit hard to find them?
4. About six months ago, YouTube was shut down for some hours, and it created some inconvenience, even panic, for some internet users. If you lived in a place without internet access, how long would you stand this circumstance?

Dear Taichung Happiers,
YouTube therapy, anyone? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmkyuihF7JAThe mirror of social media. There are 42% of people worldwide using social media; according to survey, YouTube is America's most popular social media platform. 300 hours of video are uploaded to the site every minute. Among them, educational videos, comedy videos, gaming videos, Vlogs, How-To videos, and product review videos are the most popular. American writer Nicholas G. Carr, who has published books and articles on technology, business, and culture, holds the mirror of social media up to us. On one side of the mirror, “The Net’s interactivity gives us powerful new tools for finding information, expressing ourselves, and conversing with others.” On the other side of it, “It also turns us into lab rats constantly pressing levers to get tiny pellets of social or intellectual nourishment.” YouTube’s popularity is forever increasing--it’s like a powerful drug--we can't get enough of it. YouTube makes us sometimes smile silently yet sweetly at the air, and, other times, stare at the screen in bewilderment. Social media addiction is like a shadow that would never wash. This “connected” thing could so easily cause panic felt like hope from time to time. It isn’t the deep emotion that has us decide to linger on, though; it is the confused desire. Nevertheless, YouTube has transformed what it means to be a politician, a celebrity, the Ad industry, the educational establishments, etc. So, we are wondering about what will fuel your interest to start your own channel. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to join our host Gary on this “unconventional” journey.
YouTube has changed the world. “I have a ton of followers, but I need help improving social media engagement.” “Just misspell something.” Youtube came into our noisy world like a cool and cleansing wave. In front of us rises an endless forest of images and videos. Politicians use YouTube to rebuild their relationship with voters; Justin Bieber was found on YouTube; video gamers fiercely “friend” their audience; Youtube also gives educational formulations a big boost up. These are all combined to wash away the overwhelming sense of familiarity. We are ourselves, again, out here. Free. Jessica Gall Myrick, an assistant professor for The Media School at Indiana University, has proven it wrong to regard watching videos as guilty pleasure. Her research result reveals that watching cat videos is a powerful positive reinforcement—it can raise our energy level and reduce anxiety, sadness, and anger. What’s more, the pleasure from watching videos overrides feelings of guilt for procrastinating. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0747563215004343 Then, what is the most important component of ANY video? Casey Neistat, one of the greatest Vloggers on YouTube, has constantly said, it’s “story”. Ahha, the power of story.https://hbr.org/2014/10/why-your-brain-loves-good-storytelling Story. YouTube has a soothing “voice” inviting people to surrender. We want to close our eyes, be cocooned for a time in the warm embrace of that voice, framed by curiosity and sensitivity. The satisfaction comes from that surrender. Little by little, Youtube tells us stories we don’t know.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbO5R3dS-6AWhy video? “What is a movie director’s favorite part of a paid search ad?” “The call to ACTION!” Midnight blows in through the window, dances round the room... We’re still getting high on the YouTube! We couldn't live without YouTube now. Especially, social media has become an immense business bringing social networks $23.5 billion in ad revenue annually. Besides, 90% of companies worldwide are using social media for brand awareness, because, 1 billion hours of video content is watched every day. Is, your heart, beating, faster, now? It should. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4B6Pj5y4hs What creates the power of YouTube is the incredible engagement and exciting experience--visual motion, sound, story, and personality offered by videos. Images and videos always punctuate our daily life, and the language of business is number! Are you in the creativity mood to jump into the online content world? Should we perfect our potential by launching YouTube Channels to connect more? https://www.forbes.com/sites/jaysondemers/2018/05/30/7-reasons-to-start-a-youtube-channel-now-and-first-steps-to-take/#1c6d4a906a04 Definitely, YouTube can breathe new life into our relationships, including a meaningful customer relationship. Great to articulate the media skills well and faster--to align ourselves better with the goal of YouTube marketing, to help our brand stand out and inspire our customers to recognize and remember it—and, to make our audience silently scream “Tell me more!!!” Ultimately, the connecting point is the value we can contribute. Yet…again, in life, anything worthwhile is never easy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUrNbl1lNV4We have reservations while nodding to YouTube. Is YouTube the Recipe for Disaster, or, not? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FskihyaQeUY I don't know just how it happened. I let down my guard... We don’t know what we really are until falling in love with social media (at least, for a little while). While people are so consumed with social media, responsibilities missed, people lost. It happens to too many of us. The cause of addiction—driven by dopamine—is from our desire for a reward, in term of a like, comment, or message from social media. A dance of Dopamine stirs at our brains, and we can hear the soft sound of something creeping slowly in the dark. Dr. Robert Sapolsky, a professor of biology and neurology at Stanford University, assuredly asserted that it is nothing but anticipation that makes human special, and “Dopamine is not about pleasure, it’s about the anticipation of pleasure. It’s about the pursuit of happiness.” http://www.themindvoyager.com/robert-sapolsky-dopamine-jackpot-science-pleasure/ In addition, British-American author, motivational speaker and organizational consultant Simon Sinek sincerely suggests the imbalance in the temporary relief of this “Electronic Heroin” lots of people rely on; patience is a must-learn; only the collective awakening of parents, corporation leaders, and the society can steer us back to reality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPmNf362_K0 After all, the hardest illness to cure is habit. Is our “second life” on social media an underserved prize, stolen at the expense of our true color? Our brief taste of living without authentic connections has been punishing us enough. Only when we are more in the present with the people surrounding us, can we get out of the Stuck. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hipx6HJs4XQFrom “Look Up” (by Gary Turk)
We are at our most happy with an experience we share,
but is it the same if no one is there.
Be there for you friends, and they’ll be there too,
but no one will be, if a group message will do.
………
Don’t give in to a life where you follow the hype,
give people your love, don’t give them your like.
Disconnect from the need to be heard and defined
Go out into the world, leave distractions behind.
Find the balance, find the confidence. Have a No, No, No Day—no Internet connection. No? We got lost in the eyes of YouTube, drowning in “blue”. Out of control, what can we do? All right, despite our fear for addiction, we feel a surge of excitement. Watching YouTube videos can be a little nice escape from work or school. Also, we can learn anything on YouTube—if we have enough time—if we have enough motives. We remember the warmth of the voice, the pull we feel while participating online discussions and learning communities. Moreover, YouTube can be one of our ways to explain our “why”. How should our brand definition be perceived? Where is the intersection of our passion as human beings and the value of our services? Abhijit Naskar, one of the world's celebrated Neuroscientists and an international bestselling author of numerous books, admonished us that “Use the internet wisely for not just the petty enjoyment of your senses, but for the development of your mind as well.” Yes. Social media addicts are seized by an amazing fulfillment they can’t quite comprehend. They feel empty. Very empty. Should we be well prepared to assemble the pieces from the puzzle that is beginning to form in our minds with hypotheses and speculations? Only in the darkest sky, can we see the brightest stars. Sooner rather than later, we’ll see through the Internet noise and immerse ourselves in elegance and excellence. Join us. Thanks!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YL-8zxvuuyEWith Gratitude,
Jasmine
