Thanks a lot for your attention. Questions:1. Please consider these contexts, and tell us which one you would feel scariest? Why?
(1) If there is a drug which can make people tell the truth, join this medical test for at least 1 hour. During this period, anyone can ask you questions.
(2) Spend one night alone at a graveyard.
(3) Go skydiving.
2. Saying "No" is important for a healthy relationship. Some books titled "The Art of Saying No" might be helpful. In your opinion, is "The art of saying NO" a sophisticated way to tell a lie or a sophisticated way to tell the truth? Or, something in-between?
3. Cannabis (Marijuana) has been legalized for recreational activities in some countries, and some people claimed that cannabis is less harmful than alcohol or tobacco. If the legalization of cannabis is an issue in Taiwan, will you support it for the recreational uses and why?
4. Are you good at detecting lies? Are you good at delivering lies? Is it true that a person who is good at telling lies is also good at detecting lies? If yes, will encouraging people to practice telling lies help them detect lies? If no, what are the reasons?

Dear Taichung Happiers,
Everyone is a curator, who can highlight honesty to the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Kz8vpMDiysWidely regarded as the most marvelous writer in the English language, William Shakespeare (26 April 1564 – 23 April 1616) dedicated his words to the concerns of moral and virtue: “No legacy is so rich as honesty.” Well, why are we starving for truth? What comes to your mind while studies showing you that, on average, people lie 11 times a week? Why can’t people present themselves in a truthful way? Dishonest behaviors change our souls and hearts—it’s a change from inside out—it’s the change that once the first step was taken, taking the rest is a piece of cake. Being honest is hard, but it’s worth it. Speaking of the power of truth, the puzzle is beginning to form in our minds with calculation and measurement. The power of truth. It allows us to lose ourselves in a forest of light that we don’t want to leave at all. The power of truth. It converts us to live with the consequences, no matter what they are. We can be the masters of our minds. We can become better every day. We can be closer and closer to who we want to become. Honesty has a twin bro, a healthy relationship, and we feel fair and happy in it. Truth-tellers welcome it with a smile at the fascinating freshness. Truth sometimes sounds fragile and fearful, yet the direction in which the echo travels through serves us as a guide. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to join our host Gary in requesting the priorities that we can retain so that lying is not necessarily in the first place.
When you nod your head, yes, but you want to say no? “One of the most striking differences between a cat and a lie is that a cat has only nine lives.” Greek philosopher Aristotle threw a sharp look in the direction of honesty, “The least initial deviation from the truth is multiplied later a thousandfold.” Why do people lie? Why are people bewitched by the magic of lies? Lies always give people a hundred-percent-believable grin. Lies don’t need to rationalize the reality-- they merely have to tell us what we want to hear. When people don’t meet others’ expectations, telling lies can avoid troubles or others’ anger or disappointment. However, research results have revealed that when we tell the truth, both the person on the delivering end and on the receiving end of honesty respond in a less negative way than we anticipate. https://psycnet.apa.org/doiLanding?doi=10.1037%2Fxge0000488 People lie when they try to bridge the gap between who they are and who they want people to see them as. In this age of social media and personal brand, we are so concerned about what other people think of us. Everyone can post something on social media that looks like they are having a fantastic time when actually they feel lonely. The surprising fact is when we are brave enough to show this world who we are, the real us wins the deeper love. https://www.theguardian.com/media/2015/nov/03/instagram-star-essena-oneill-quits-2d-life-to-reveal-true-story-behind-images Truth is never perfect, never keeps pace with all expectations. Truth always poses doubts and difficulties. In this way, what speaks for authenticity? Please remember that we are not required to be responsible for other people’s responses to us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_zB4yNdROAWhat do you mean? Ooh… How to spot the lie? “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.” Is it our duty or our right to tell the truth? Will people live more happily in enchanted ignorance? Will happiness and spiritual peace evaporate on the way between assumptions and awareness? http://liespotting.com/liespotting-basics/quiz/ Lying itself can be full of signs. The trick is to know how to read them. Are you ready to piece together the facts? Do you have better secret tips than Sherlock•Holmes? https://www.psychologytoday.com/intl/blog/hope-relationships/201507/6-ways-detect-liar-in-just-seconds Yes, we all want to vent the frustration of deception, to get out of the shadow of doubt, and to take reassurance from our inconvenient efforts. Yet, some people have their principles of salvation other than honesty—to stave off the world and their emptiness. Researchers have looked inquisitively at them, who just gave an ambiguous smile in return. A new study by researchers at the University of Edinburgh even finds that people don’t necessarily provide important clues when they’re lying. https://www.journalofcognition.org/articles/10.5334/joc.46/Honesty leads to success and happiness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vzTltBl99Lw As an associate professor of finance at the University of Zurich and a faculty member of the Swiss Finance Institute, Alexander Wagner pointed out that a protected value is a value we are willing to pay the price to uphold it; people who have protected values discount money they receive by lying by about 25 %. Moreover, he suggested his strong opinion that selecting the right people with right values will go a long way to save a lot of trouble and a lot of money in our organizations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MV9KzOS9MGI Honesty builds trust. Choose to be truthful in whatever we say and we do. By creating a new self-awareness towards life where we take every responsibility for every action and decision we make, and accepting that we are the authors of our life stories, we’ll have nothing to put on the table but the truth. By the way, will you agree that “The only job in which one cannot lie is poetry”? Poetry has a soothing voice that signals to us to surrender. We want to be swathed for a time in the warm embrace of that voice. No? http://mg.co.za/article/2013-09-01-the-only-job-in-which-one-cannot-lie-is-poetry Being honest helps people feel confident and brave. When we don’t tell the truth, the anxiety and fear of being caught start to eat us alive. Only when we create a culture where it’s safe to tell the truth, will people be honest. It’s a high standard, but it’s a good standard. Truth is the corner stone of a society. There are times when it’s more honorable to stand up for the truth than to pretend to think, or feel, or be something that we are not. Ultimately, honesty will pay off to put people first. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJXmdY4lVR0From “IF LIBRARIANS WERE HONEST” (by Joseph Mills)
If librarians were honest,
they wouldn’t smile, or act
welcoming. They would say,
You need to be careful.
…
If librarians were honest,
they would say, No one
spends time here without being
changed. Maybe you should
go home. While you still can.
Truth will never die. The most beautiful things in life are the simple things, because they are clear to see--they don’t hide anything. Irish playwright, critic, and political activist George Bernard Shaw (26 July 1856 – 2 November 1950) whispered an admirable admonition that
“I am afraid we must make the world honest before we can honestly say to our children that honesty is the best policy.” Dishonesty always costs. The price is that both anything and everything will turn out to be nothing. We are the master of our fates. Actions always speak louder—especially while keeping our promises or speaking up for the right thing makes other problems in people’s lives seem more straightforward. There is always something about every truth that is both fragile and strangely strong; it takes courage to regain the customary rhythm. Fortunately, the air the public breathes in is warmer than we expected. People will accept our imperfect real selves. Acceptance can feel like everything right. As a result, humanity smiles again, the sweet smile, the smile that forgives everything, that understands everything. We all have superpower--the power of giving ourselves the gift of true authenticity, which merits all our confidence. Money can’t buy happiness; yet, morality can perform miracles. We just have to find the right place to exercise it. Join us. Thanks!!!
