Thanks a lot for your attention. Questions:1. In Taiwan, a person who meets some requirements may apply to change his/her name twice in a lifetime. The reasons to change names may be: the name is too common, it sounds not good, experts suggest a new name for good luck, and so on. Have you ever changed your name before? If yes, why? If no, have you ever thought about changing it? Why?
2. Do you believe in Nameology (姓名學)? Nowadays you can choose your name according to Nameology, your birth date, zodiac, or even star sign. If a very famous fortune teller suggests you to change your name, which can bring you very good luck, will you change it? Why or why not?
3. Have you ever visited a fortune teller? After he/she gave you the advice, did you follow it? Did it work? Please share your experiences about what questions you asked for answers.

Dear Taichung Happiers,
I am that I am. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkUVRGCidjEA name is a home we’ve never known, a place will last. What makes you want to cut to the feeling but came from somewhere else? It’s your name. What is very personal but shared with everyone? It’s your name. What is the most important thing you tell anyone about you? It’s your name. Every day with a name is magic. What do we have in a name? In modern societies, we have become more and more confused about our identities and the meaning of life. Is a name in response to an indecipherable wink from the fates? What’s the relationship between people’s names and life choices? Can any names make us glow with pride? American writer and lecturer Dale Carnegie remarkably reminded us that “a person’s name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.” Likewise, Canadian writer Charles de Lint did believe in the bewitchment of names. “A name can't begin to encompass the sum of all her parts. But that's the magic of names, isn't it? That the complex, contradictory individuals we are can be called up complete and whole in another mind through the simple sorcery of a name.” Our lives are constituted by our daily choices, which in turn helps us to determine our character, our name, and who we really are. So, truly internalizing our names doesn’t threaten us. Not now. Not anymore. Yet, can we breathe a sigh of relief after this? What are the certain scenes you remember with photographic clarity from childhood, learning to write your name? Did you find yourself slipping into a different line of questioning “How to customize my name? Will I decide it by its words or sounds, or the stories behind it?” Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to join our host Harris in sharing our names and dreams.
A name is a blessing. The noblest function of things is that of being contemplated. “What do you call a scientist that makes up everything?” “Adam (atom).” A name, inspired by nature, ancient cultures, books, colors, places, everything and anything, is a blessing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73duBFrPHG0 A name gives us a sense of direction and a starting point. A name is a big part of our confidence. It allows us to reinvent ourselves. Professor Martin Skinner at the University of Warwick reads every parent’s mind: “Names usually reflect parental aspirations, so someone wants their child to be taken seriously will give them a name that has weight and is not frivolous—whatever class they are.” Moreover, regarding the choice of baby names, the transformation of tastes of parents is like the orchestra of the world, indicating the fluidity and mobility. https://www.pnas.org/content/112/26/7943/ What’s in a name? Does a name make a man? In addition, Shakespeare inquired, “wouldn’t a rose by any other name smell as sweet?” Studies are signaling the reasons a name can affect our future: the effects of stereotypes—people’s expectations and mindsets will interact with you; your name may affect the way you interact with the world. Then, how much does a name affect our life purpose? Can it help us make a conquest and carry it to the end? A name is a blessing. The thought that we come by way of our parents’ memories stills us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXa_-idMJb8 A name is a blessing. And, the world is a stage. A name brings us down to the reality and the innermost instinct is awakened in us. We choose to perform what we want to become, in an appreciative and creative way. A name is a blessing. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/31/opin ... 1551516228A name is an identity. “What breaks when you say its name?” “Silence!” Which corner of the world does your name trace you back to? Everyone’s name represents their identity, culture, history, even, worldview, and future. According to a nation-wide poll in the US taken in 2015, 49% of all babies are given a name which one of their relatively recent ancestors have also had—it is a source of great pride to these families. Your name, like a compass, simple and sincere, always leads you back home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-DQeEpWwrc When you take on a name, you take on a spiritual ancestry. In this remote place in India, alongside their traditional names, each villager is given a musical name by their mothers. When they are calling out the musical names, they are calling with affection and recognition. Once upon a song. The musical names contribute to more callings and connections. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijzIk75bsNM A name is an identity. Have the confidence to understand our roots, our heritage, and allow it to initiate what impact we can make. We have the ambition, the ability to see into the future, see how we can advocate for ourselves. By fighting adversity with cultivation and compassion, by looking into our names and those of others around us, without losing respect for ourselves and our opponents, we are accepting our future. Check this out. “I was no longer seen as Mariam. I was Mariam my whole life, and I left…” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psZTQ6OyDVQFrom “Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats” (by T.S. Eliot)
Before a Cat will condescend
To treat you as a trusted friend,
Some little token of esteem
Is needed, like a dish of cream;
And you might now and then supply
Some caviare, or Strassburg Pie,
Some potted grouse, or salmon paste —
He's sure to have his personal taste.
A Cat's entitled to expect
These evidences of respect.
And so in time you reach your aim,
And finally call him by his name.
A name is a million dreams. A name is a gift for communicating, communicating ourselves, with the celebration of enthusiasm, a sense of beauty, and moral shock. A name possesses an enchanting power to inspire and influence a person’s future choices, which knows no limits and helps us to perfectly embrace our passion. A name is where we receive spiritual nourishment from. What are our names? What are the values that define us? Having confidence in our names is a journey; we believe this journey is so genuine and unique. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmOQ1IsjydI Everyone is an artist, a name is a peculiar bird, who has to find a way in his/her time and who had better be left alone to do so—to regain the ability to make courageous choices at any given time—to make right decisions with strength, faith, and clarity. A name is a million dreams—to practice self-acceptance; to be there for yourself when life gets rough. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJWEG2vLjXs A name is a million dreams to elevate ourselves and those around us. Discover our value to others, especially those born of a forgottenness. Develop a sharp portfolio that shows our value. Deliver the information of this portfolio through our names. There is something about a name that is both fragile and strangely strong. A name is a million dreams! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDJjcL9Ya4cWe are that we are. Taken together, a name is a home where we are always wanted; a name is a blessing to help and propel; a name is an identity to describe and connect; a name is a million dreams to guide and light up a person in all times. A name accompanies a person for a lifetime to answer the chaotic call of their own unease. Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery (November 30, 1874 – April 24, 1942) energetically encouraged aggression. “Living so that you beautify your name, even if it wasn't beautiful to begin with... making it stand in people's thoughts for something so lovely and pleasant that they never think of it by itself.” A name shows us that we have no choice now but to learn how to steadily select. Our names exhibit the collection of different types of curiosity. Only when we know our values can we live them. Weight our names as they deserve; designate ourselves to take ownership of what we offer. Tell people what our names really mean, about the person we really are. A name puts us together on the promise of connection with our next step. In a name, we have a life, a searching, and a finding. We are that we are. A name is a million dreams. A million dreams for the world we’re gonna make. Therefore, share your names and dreams with us! Join us. Thanks!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YlCQDMYV9wWith gratitude,
Jasmine
