Questions:
1. According to the psychology professor, Kate Mclean, in “The transformational Power of How You Talk about Your Life”, the ways people tell their life stories reflect their personality, and have profound effects on what kinds of persons they become. Do you agree to her point? Why or why not?

2. Do you think Lady Ga Ga’s story reflects her traits and personality? What kind of person do you think she is? Are you inspired by her? Why or why not?

3. Life is never fair, and no life is perfect. Please share your life story with us. Talk about some key events of your life, focusing on the sour (dark) moments you ever went through, how you considered the positives that came out of your negative experiences, and how you coped with the difficult situation and moved your life forward.

4. Were you ever impressed by any other person’s life story (either celebrity or non-celebrity)? Introduce that person and tell us how he (she) interprets his (her) major events of life.

Dear Taichung Happiers,

Life stories lock us with our authentic selves, in an affectionate embrace.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ov4MXWKMxjE

Thinking of life stories, are you seized by any motivation or anticipation? What moment has remained intensively embedded in your mind? Why should we recount our personal history? How to interpret others’ life stories? And, for what? Telling a life story is to gain a clearer picture of our identities. British neurologist, historian of science, and author Oliver Sacks (9 July 1933 – 30 August 2015) turned his gaze down into the depth of his cup of life story. “We have, each of us, a life-story, an inner narrative — whose continuity, whose sense, is our lives. It might be said that each of us constructs and lives, a ‘narrative,’ and that this narrative is us, our identities.” Life stories depict our values, passions, and inclinations. We tell stories, and we grow into those stories. Those stories keep reminding us of the most important thing—it’s not tough moments that define us; it’s how we react that really matters. Story-tellers and listeners are on the same side. When our minds tell us: this is the one true you, our eyes are full of inexpressible emotion; the urge to digest others’ experiences and stories is even stronger. We wholeheartedly listen to others’ stories, which will give us a piece of ourselves. In life stories, we see the lessons of respect, rejoicing, and release. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to join our host Emily Lee in throwing searching glances around and collecting our thoughts together.

Story is the most inviting door. How can a story brighten a person’s world?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK94B9VcDyU Story, like art, is the most inviting door that transforms the unspoken language and invisible images within our spirits. Stories allow us to meet the sound of the re-established silence. The secret of story-telling is seeing through the camera and into the future itself. The most sophisticated form of visual storytelling is film, and Academy Award–winning filmmaker Ang Lee has more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdLHtq-M6oE&t=24s American poet Muriel Rukeyser (December 15, 1913 – February 12, 1980) showed a bolder sign. “The universe is made of stories, not atoms.” Stories help us to help ourselves. Stories retrieve the broken morality and implant hope again. Stories restore orders with words and images. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hsr2jUcEjMk Stories play a significant role in our childhood. Many stories become lessons remaining with us and recommending our personal values. A story is a communication from the teller to listeners. Ultimately, the teller can only relate as far as their ability reaches; meanwhile, listeners can only comprehend as far as what is already stored in their souls. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nj-hdQMa3uA

From “A Christmas Carol” (by Christina Rossetti)

Angels and archangels
May have gathered there,
Cherubim and seraphim
Thronged the air;
But only His mother
In her maiden bliss
Worshipped the Beloved
With a kiss.

What can I give Him,
Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb,
If I were a Wise Man
I would do my part,—
Yet what I can I give Him,
Give my heart.

Every story of our past and present stirs long-faded thoughts. Life. We have fear, we have relief, as well as curiosity about what will come. “A clean house is a sign of a wasted life.” Life itself is a story and we have the power to carve our own corner of the display. Telling our stories is to reason what seizes our hearts; telling our stories is to feel our spiritual and conceivable potential; telling our stories is to develop our experiences into perspectives. What is to become of you? Do you think the world has caught a glimpse of the person you are bound to be? Telling our life stories helps us concentrate on the scene unfolding in front of us. Most importantly, researchers have revealed how we can have health benefits from telling a life story.
https://www.health.harvard.edu/mind-and ... life-story Stories shape us as individuals. In addition, stories shape us as a culture--stories play a similar role in teams and organizations, shaping our shared values and cultivating organizational culture. Facilitated by telling life stories, speaking excited words or not, leaders’ chances will improve many-fold. Boas Shamir, a visiting scholar at the London School of Economics illustrates his invaluable insights. https://www.emerald.com/insight/content ... /full/html Life stories empower the choices we have to make to rhyme with the challenges we have to face. Tadao Ando, the recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, exhibits a growing confidence in the fact that energy comes from satisfaction and creation. Listen to Tadao Ando’s life story with your heart to find out what the magic power turned him from a boxer into an Award-winning architect. Then, perhaps, we can re-define “possibilities” and “promises”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imevQUK9tgQ

Complete the Circle. “When the doctor ask you one question, and you give him/her your whole life story...” A life story has no beginning; it has no ending, neither. What exactly exists is only a circle. A circle. A circle stems from nothing more than the glorious and gorgeous. Do you believe that stories will save the world? Going on the journey of finding our missing piece, by learning from others’ life stories, we keep ourselves from travelling with frustrating slowness through the air. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNyJE2-U_pw On the other hand, we also feel the lingering joy of being connected with our listeners. Listeners are our co-creators—we create emotion and imagination together. A life story is about achieving bigger things. There are the ill-fated days in every life story. However, feeling connected, we believe in turning negatives to positives in life; we believe a better attitude can generate a better aspect; we believe seeing the silence within every story is recognizing the richness of everyone’s life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hfMNTnBM4I Whoever composes the story composes the world. Therefore, always work on welcoming people into the castle of our stories--as if we were not people in space, and we were space itself to accommodate infinity--as if we could wrap the world with our hearts. Turkish playwright, novelist and thinker Mehmet Murat ildan admonishes us, “Your own life story is not read by the world till you add some exceptional things to the life stories of others!” Yes. To be read is neither for fame nor for fortune. To be read is to make an impact on others. Everyone has a missing piece; everyone needs a place where the doors are always open for them. Life stories acknowledge words of encouragement. We don’t just write stories—the stories write us. Find the missing piece through life stories; complete the circle through life stories. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMkFRXaWsQ8

Life stories lock us with our authentic selves, in an affectionate embrace. The light is pouring in, when the connection and the circle of life stories are interwoven, revealing our pursuit for happiness, health, and harmony. At last, the only thing that matters is imagination all audience carry in their minds--the imagination is nothing but the key to preserving the bonds between people. At last, the only thing that matters is the enlightenment on what can’t be solved can be actually celebrated, because we deserve to enjoy the journey. At last, the only thing that matters is accepting the contradictions of our lives. Life stories are testimonies of faith in giving and gratitude. If we relate the system around us in a more unclenched and unreserved way, we can redefine our future. William James (January 11, 1842 – August 27, 1910), one of the most prominent philosophers of the United States, remarkably reminded people that “When you live your life with an appreciation of coincidences and their meanings, you connect with the underlying field of infinite possibilities.” Our drunkenness might re-bloom occasionally; our life stories might change, through time and perspective; yet, authenticity returns in our mind’s eye, and we believe life stories are still going strong. A life story is like a piece of ballet choreography--we love the calmness of the beauty within and beyond it. The calmness that erases all shadows. Share life stories, and we’ll meet our fully authentic selves once again. Join us. Thanks!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg8A30a8tXM
