Dear Taichung Happiers,
In every situation, every moment, what makes our inside sing? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gLMiuywApwLove life; make a difference. Have you ever wondered if history will fade one day? If so, what will be merely words in textbooks? In whose hands, the fate of the human race might have been? Now, is all that getting upgraded? Is it possible that what seem like absurd alternatives are, absolutely, approaches developed long ago for treating other kinds of headaches? American linguist, philosopher, and historian, Noam Chomsky has revealed that "There are no magic answers, no miraculous methods to overcome the problems we face, just the familiar ones: honest search for understanding, education, organization, action that raises the cost of state violence for its perpetrators or that lays the basis for institutional change — and the kind of commitment that will persist despite the temptations of disillusionment, despite many failures and only limited successes, inspired by the hope of a brighter future" Additionally, in what context did you start perceiving the connection between human beings and places? What cities feed you, feed your soul? Which city makes you feel more vibrant than anywhere else you’ve ever lived? Now, we are in the key year of the unfolding for the human experiment for many reasons, considering ambiguous implications of the unfavorable events. This is a time to not let our souls doubt—who we are; what we can do. As we get together, the genuine goals are getting a way of letting our gentility and generosity shine through, and helping awaken others’. For this weekend, great to have three thrilling elements in this topic: History, City, and Photography. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to join our host MacGyver in remembering those times, events, and places, and recapturing the energy and the possibility to perform more and provide more.
History has no beginning and no end--only doors through which we may find a way in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jsj-hDW9bS8 When it comes to history, our thoughts stretch in all directions, pursuing the light. History. It remembers the past and predicts the future. “The world isn't just the way it is. It is how we understand it, no? And in understanding something, we bring something to it, no? Doesn't that make life a story?”, asked Yann Martel, the author of Life of Pi. History shows us the invisible truth about ourselves. Nevertheless, however far the historians can relate, readers can only read as far as what is already written in their souls. Ultimately, there is no definite history? Each person tells the story that each person sees and believes? http://bostonreview.net/poetry/steve-he ... ming-human Human history is a past of harshness; meanwhile, human history is also a past of kindness, a past of compassion and determination. Yes. History. There are the critical twists. There are the crucial factors. There are the decisive days that radically reshaped all that was to follow. What is called fateful is nothing but what we choose to focus in this fancy history. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNZBptO9w-U History makes a special space in our minds. The by-product is the proof that we are resilient enough to ride out--as long as people choose to nourish and cherish cultural diversity, which sustains the most substantial strength of humanity. Human history should have been a history of accepting and celebrating cultural diversity. Wave a magic wand of cultural diversity. Ta-da… History is the souvenir; history is the solution; history is the salvation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ze11Q-S8-LAPhotography—a global language made of light. “Today, I am going to shoot someone… and they will love me for it!” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Duf5GFggaNc American documentary photographer and photojournalist Dorothea Large (May 26, 1895 – October 11, 1965) grew her respect for visual arts without limit. “There is a province in which the photograph tells us nothing more than what we see with our own eyes, but there is another in which it proves how little our eyes permit us to see.” Indeed, how many wonders can photography help discover is beyond our imagination and expectation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmVA0Eg-nfs Sure enough, photography is more than images. Apart from obvious reasons, photography is reinforcing our happiness and passion to really savor life. Photography is a way to re-shape human perception, to analyze the active energy of the land, and to extract the interesting true color of any modest things. For photos, instead of anticipating the key moments, we admire and appreciate the shared emotional engagement. https://twistedsifter.com/2019/06/2019- ... s-gallery/ Above all, what do photography and history have in common? They have the texture of distant, half-forgotten memories, and they also grant a glance into the future. Austrian-American photojournalist and color photographer Ernst Haas (March 2, 1921 – September 12, 1986) raised an enquiring eyebrow in the direction of our heart. “A picture is the expression of an impression. If the beautiful were not in us, how would we ever recognize it?” Well, if, if photography is to seek answers to hidden harmony, the first thing photographs must contain is the essence of humanness, passing the witness of humanity stepping into a beam of sunlight. https://muse.jhu.edu/article/721715/summaryA city can be claimed as a connection… Teacher: “It’s clear that you haven’t studied your geography. What’s your excuse?” Student: “Well, my dad says the world is changing every day. So I decided to wait until it settles down!” Learning anything about a city? All we can do is remembering everything we can and imagining the rest? What city could it be, if you walk on its street and it feels like covering 20 centuries in 20 minutes? What city could it be, if you simultaneously smell the new world conveniences and old world practices? What city could it be, if you seize the coexistence of curiosity with disparity? Whenever a city pours out its million-part symphonies, it imprints its own signature on our minds, and the inspiration lingers... https://www.nytimes.com/column/36-hours Despite every city has a charm all their own, the impression a city gives us mirrors our temperamental highs and lows, and the mood we have when the city is spicing up its dancing with variations. A city is a map in our minds. A city can be claimed as a connection if we acquire countless memories that layered in our mind; a city can gain an identity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njBCgXmjCpI A city can blossom. The voice of a city can be thickly laced with the serenity of spirit and sense that soothes the threatening. On the other hand, a city can vigorously challenge us on what fears and hopes of the beholders it should be oblivious to. While we gaze silently at this, our hearts are singing. It takes an actual city to pound new accent out of life, to harmonize all the seeds and blooms into stretching-out troupes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=TLGG ... pp=desktop “Beautiful City” (by Alfred Lord Tennyson)
Beautiful city
Beautiful city, the centre and crater of European confusion,
O you with your passionate shriek for the rights of an equal
humanity,
How often your Re-volution has proven but E-volution
Roll’d again back on itself in the tides of a civic insanity!
In every situation, every moment, what makes our inside sing? What makes us feel lighter and brighter? In every situation, every moment, history, city, and photography are writing two words in the air: Connection heals. History. City. Photography. When the camera turns dizzy, and it feels drunk... What really matters to us are people and experience. In other words, connection—the invisible tie--that’s the only thing. In truth, Taichung Happiers’ best friend Albert Einstein had given us new eyes as decent as historians’ and photographers’. “The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it.” History. History is more the memories of the survivors. There is a chain of individual responsibilities; yet, not a chain so long that everyone can simply blame everyone else. Hopefully, wherever you are, your city is wrapped in light, and a scent of anticipation and expectation will float in the air. Hopefully, the land of our dreams will expand without limits; it will be filled with more valuable and vigorous life. Hopefully, the readers of history can open their hearts and give the stories a part of themselves. History tries to remind us of the reason why we must stay together--some purpose to our union that already always existed. We swing. Join us. Thanks!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEmuEOXnXH0With Gratitude,
Jasmine
